Reproduction of dracenes in several ways

Dracena can be called the most beautiful ornamental-deciduous plant. There are about 50 of its species growing on the islands of Southeast Asia and Africa. The most popular is the "Dragon Tree", but it is not literally a tree. This is a shrub with an erect stalk, on which a bunch of green leaves is formed. Only with age does the stem become lignified. In indoor conditions, the plant grows to 1.5 m. Even for interiors and rooms, Dracaena is fragrant and marginal. The first is distinguished by bright green leaves with a silvery stripe in the middle. It can grow up to 2 meters in height. And its quaint flowers in the form of fluffy balls will exude a pleasant fragrance, although at home, the dracene blooms quite rarely. Dracena marginata (fringed) is famous for its palm-like appearance. On its lignified stalk adorns a cap of needle-like thin leaves, which can have red, green or yellow stripes. In principle, any dracaena will be a wonderful decoration for a house, office or a green garden.

Propagation of Dracaena by seeds

To do this, soak seeds for a day in a stimulating solution, its temperature should be 30ºC. Then they are sown in special soil mixtures for palm plants. You can sow in ordinary soil, but the first is preferable. It is best to use disposable cups for this. The seeds are sown, the soil should be poured, and the glass covered with polyethylene. Reproduction of dracen seeds does not cause any special trouble. After 5-8 weeks, sprouts will appear, they must be hidden from direct sunlight. The soil should not be too wet or too dry. When the shoots reach 5 cm, they should be transplanted into separate pots.

Reproduction of dracen by cuttings propagation

To do this, select a strong young stem, which is cut into segments of 3-5 cm. This should be done with a razor or a sharp knife. On each segment of the stem should be at least 2 eyes. On each stalk you need to cut the bark from one side and insert them into the prepared soil. Plants should be placed in a warm place, be sure to make sure that there is no direct sunlight. Do not forget to monitor the humidity. After about 2 months, the first shoots will appear. Reproduction of dracaena can be carried out with the help of the top of the mother plant. To do this, it is cut and put in a glass of water. In it you need to pour a little charcoal. Only a couple of months, the roots will appear and the plant can be planted in the ground. By the way, several new shoots will appear on the site of the cut off top.

Dracaena fragrant: reproduction

This species is easily propagated by stem and upper cuttings. This can be done at any time, for example, after rejuvenating pruning. But the best time is spring.

Dracaena marginate: reproduction

This species can be propagated by air layers and cuttings, stems and seeds. Sow seeds and cuttings should be at a temperature of not less than 22-25ºC. And do not forget about the lunar calendar. The optimal time for propagation is the growing moon. Must be a few leaves on the stem. It is through them that they will feed until the roots of the stalk form. The roots grow long enough (not less than 2 months), during this time a part of the leaves will wither. With the advent of roots, the plant is planted in the soil. For decoration in one pot, you can plant 3-5 copies.
