Pancreatitis: symptoms, treatment and types of disease

Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas, which is the second largest gland in our body. It has two major functions:

  • Exocrine, expressed in the allocation of pancreatic juice in the duodenum. It, in turn, neutralizes the acidity of the stomach and participates in the process of digestion;
  • Intrasector, consisting in the development of hormones such as insulin, glucoquine and liposin.

They say about the presence of such a disease as pancreatitis - symptoms. Treatment is always quite difficult, because the disease occurs because of a number of disorders, due to which the iron begins to digest itself.

There are two types of disease course:

  • chronic pancreatitis;
  • Acute pancreatitis.

Chronic pancreatitis appears due to the incompletely cured acute form of the disease. In addition, it can occur because of inflammation in other organs of the digestive tract. Another cause of chronic pancreatitis can be called alcoholism.

A chronic form is expressed in the progressive inflammation of the gland, which leads to the replacement of tissues with those unable to perform the necessary functions.

Acute pancreatitis is an inflammatory process that manifests itself in the enzymatic self-digestion of the pancreas. In cases of neglected or severe illness, tissue necrosis and the occurrence of secondary infections may occur.

Pancreatitis: symptoms, treatment

The drug treatment of pancreatitis, when it has already passed into acute form, is impossible. It is necessary to treat it only in a surgical hospital. The first two days the patient is not given any food at all, then they are put on a cruel diet, they put drippers.

The disease has a critical period when the patient is suffering severe pain. It lasts from two days to a week after which the patient is transferred to a regular ward.

Quite often after a critical period pains completely pass and patients decide that their further location in the hospital is meaningless. But this recovery is imaginary, because after a couple of days, well-being usually returns to its previous state.

There are situations when the patient is in hospital for three, and four months. But this is only in difficult cases, when doctors have to surgically remove the dead tissue of the gland.

Pancreatitis: treatment, drugs

In order to relieve the pain that occurs with chronic pancreatitis, you can use the familiar "No-Shpu". To reduce the increased secretion of the pancreas, it is recommended that "Almagel" and "Fosfolugel". In some cases, enzyme preparations are prescribed, replenishing the lack of pancreatic juice: Mezim, Festal, Pancreatin.

All these tools are described only for familiarization, but not for patients to self-medicate. Because you can prescribe medication for pancreatitis in your specific case only by the attending physician, because he has knowledge about the peculiarities of the course of your illness.

Diet for pancreatitis

No matter what pancreatitis symptoms have, treatment always begins with a strict diet. It is necessary to increase the amount of protein consumed and reduce the amount of carbohydrates and fats. Be sure to abandon the rough fiber and any fried foods. But what you need to increase is the consumption of vitamins.

It is best if the patient eats 5-6 times a day. In this diet should be rich in fish and low-fat varieties of meat. And, of course, these two products can only be boiled and crushed. Dairy products having a minimum fat content are also not prohibited.

To drink is better only natural juices, which do not contain sugar, tea and decoctions of dried fruits. Under no circumstances should pancreatitis eat spicy food, any canned food, smoked and pickled foods, carbonated and alcoholic beverages, sweet.

All advice concerning the diet can be expressed in a few words: the diet of a patient with a pancreatitis is reported to contain only fast-digesting foods.

If the symptoms are severe in a disease such as pancreatitis, treatment should include a diet with medication. This is the only way to speed up the improvement of the patient's condition.
