Derain white: beauty all year round

The Deren genus consists of more than 50 species, mostly distributed in the Northern Hemisphere (in its temperate regions). Several species grow in South America and in central Africa. The plant is extremely unpretentious, perfectly tolerates the winter, undemanding to the species and composition of the soil, grows equally well in the light and in the penumbra. These are mostly deciduous trees (there are also evergreen bushes), which look very impressive in the summer, with beautiful white flowers and rich foliage. No less effective in the fall, when the eye is attracted by its white and blue fruits - drupes, and the beautiful color of the leaves of burgundy and pink shades. But the most colorful appearance of the tree is acquired in winter, when the bark of young shoots of the plant is highlighted with rich green, red, orange and even purple tones against the snow-white winter cover.

The most widespread and widely used in the gardening species of this genus is the white dern. In natural conditions, the plant is found among thickets of shrubs and in floodplains of rivers practically throughout the territory of Russia. Derain white, like most of his brethren, is undemanding to the composition of the soil, it grows well both in the sun and in the penumbra, is drought-resistant, although it also tolerates damp places. The shrub can reach a height of 3 meters. It has very flexible thin branches of beautiful coral-red coloration, less often red-brown and very rarely black and red. Young shoots of the turf are usually covered with a bluish coating. Dark green leaves from below have a bluish-white color, have an ovoid shape, reach a length of 10-12 cm. The flowers are small, white, collected in inflorescences, reaching a diameter of 5 cm. The white dendrites bloom very abundantly, at the beginning of summer and can repeatedly Blossom in autumn. Then, simultaneously with the flowers, you can see mature, white or with a bluish tinge, the fruits are spherical.

Currently, two decorative forms of the turf are very popular in gardening, which throughout the vegetative period have an original coloring of the foliage. This deren is white silvery-bordered, characterized by a contrasting fringing of the leaves, and the second is the white Špeta deren, whose almost all leaf plastic has a very bright orange color. Both these forms will very much decorate the site; Growing up, they form a large, bright and elegant bush, contrasting with other plantings.

Derain white Sibirica grows to a height of 3 m and is very beautiful both in a hedgerow and in a single planting. Young erect shoots of the plant have a bright coral-red color, unusually beautiful looking in winter against the background of snow. The leaves of this species have a fairly wide uneven border (or white spots), which are preserved in the autumn, when the foliage becomes orange-red. To prolong the brightness of the color of the bark on young shoots, it is necessary to stimulate their growth. This can be achieved by pruning the bush "to the stump". After it grow strong shoots with bright juicy leaves.

Another interesting representative of the Derain is the White Siberian Sibirica Variegata. It is distinguished by high winter hardiness and undemanding to the soil. Well tolerates flooding and alkaline soil. The height of the plant and the diameter of the crown can reach 3 meters. The crown is sprawling, the leaves are green, with large white divorces, and below are light green. In August, they appear purple. The bark is coral-red. Blossoms Sibirik Variegata In May-June, yellow-white flowers collected in the corymbose inflorescences. Ideal for hedges, landscapes and single landings.

Derens are given many shoots every year. Plants can be made compact and beautiful if you cut out every third shoot every year. Such pruning can be made starting from the age of three years of the shrub. Cut first of all follows the oldest and weakest branches, and then those that go far from the center of the bush and break, thus, the shape of the plant. Derins maintain a regular haircut and give after it a dense branching of the crown. Thus, it is possible to form a hedge, which year round will delight the eye with its beautiful well-groomed appearance.
