Replacing the ball bearing with your own hands

We all know about the quality of domestic roads. A lot of European cars on the Russian market are supplied with reinforced suspension elements. This is dictated by the conditions in which it will work. In addition, Russian drivers, no offense to them will be said, somewhat different in style of driving. Even stranger is the fact that domestic cars are even less adapted to such conditions and have an even smaller resource of work. But that's not the point.

In everyday driving, the most vulnerable element of the car is the front suspension. It consists of ball bearings, which serve to ensure the course of the suspension, as well as turning the wheels in the desired direction. Over time, the hinge, which is installed inside, wears out, there is a loophole that grows into a knock. It, in turn, can cause a serious accident, because the finger will simply vomit from the saddle under the action of the forces of the spring.

Replacing the ball joint is not too complicated, but it requires some skill, skill, and a small set of tools. Of course, you can simply pay in a car repair service, but it's not always free money, and sometimes it happens that you have to do it right on the road. In this case, time is limited to a light day, and at hand may not be the right tools. Replacing the ball joint then becomes an unpleasant occupation, but let's not talk about the sad.

To begin with, you need to install the car with the front crossbar to something stable and fairly high. Then, under the hood, the shock absorber rod is unscrewed, which is also attached underneath, with two bolts. Recall that in our case, the replacement of the ball joint VAZ 2107 is considered, for other cars the procedure may be slightly different, due to design features.

After this, it is necessary to loosen the nut on the ball. There is a possibility that under the action of a spring the finger will jump out of the bipod itself, but one should not rely on such an event. Therefore, the replacement of the ball bearing is not complete without a hammer. A bite is made several times, after which the finger should be released.

ATTENTION. Do not completely unscrew the nuts, because after the release of the finger, the spring will not hold anything, and it will simply fly out, and the energy in it is very high. In addition, it is also possible to damage the lever. To compress the springs, special screeds are used, which are installed on both sides of the turns. Then they twist and the spring contracts. It's still worthwhile to be careful, because the screeds can slip, and it will be sharply squashed, the consequences can be the most deplorable.

After this, the ball bearing is replaced. Next, install everything in reverse order. Here, too, do not forget about security. Also it is necessary to think about the assistant, because it is problematic to perform such work alone. We will not consider the scenario of the reasons for which a spherical replacement may be required. VAZ 2107 does not differ in suspension design from other cars of the Soviet and Russian "classics", so this instruction is applicable to all rear-wheel drive vehicles of this brand.
