Repair of energy-saving lamps in order to save

In recent years, replacement of simple incandescent lamps with energy-saving lamps has been intensifying. The basis for them is a luminescent small-sized lamp, whose operation is regulated by an electronic starting regulating device (electronic ballast, electronic ballast). Dear branded lamps are characterized by a smooth inclusion and work much longer, almost within the guaranteed period. But cheaper options, as well as fakes for popular brands do not justify the hopes placed on them for long-term work and quickly fail. Compared with conventional incandescent lamps, the cost of replacing them "economy", as well as fluorescent lamps is much higher, therefore repair of fluorescent lights, as well as energy-saving options, is justified for the sake of economy. After the restoration of their working capacity, the need to purchase new lamps disappears.

Most often, the cause of failure is the breakage of filaments or the failure of electronic balance due to the breakdown of a resonant capacitor or transistor. Repair of energy-saving lamps is possible only in the event of a failure in the ballast. Lamps with burned filaments do not need to be thrown away. They can be used to replace the ballast in other defective lamps, if the threads in them are in working order. However, in some cases, it is possible to fix the burned-out spiral by closing it with a high-power resistor (O, 25 W, 10 Ohm) and removing the diode shunting this spiral, if any. But more often repair of energy-saving lamps requires the replacement of electronic ballast. It must be replaced either completely, or, with a certain skill, you can try to replace only the parts that are out of order.

The cause of the energy-saving lamp failure can be a hard mode of its operation - in the locations of the electrodes the temperature reaches 60 degrees due to lack of ventilation (there are no holes in the lamp base ). Overheating leads to sagging and breaking of the filaments and failure of the ballast elements. Repair of energy-saving lamps may be required if there are structural defects that are allowed during assembly accidentally or intentionally for economy. This is especially true of Chinese lamps. In order not to run into such grief- "housekeepers", you need to buy products of well-known manufacturers. For example, the need to repair energy-saving lamps "Kosmos", "Volta" and other well-known manufacturers in practice occurs much less frequently than the need to repair their Chinese counterparts.

Disassembly of energy-saving lamps is of no particular complexity, nevertheless, one must do it carefully so as not to break the flask, it is very fragile. Do not forget that there are mercury vapors inside the bulb that are hazardous to health. Open the case with electronic ballast can be a sharp object (narrow screwdriver), for which you need to open the latch that connects the plastic parts of the body. Then it is necessary to disconnect the wire of the spiral output from the electronic circuit. Remains an electronic board, connected by two conductors to the part of the housing on which the base is mounted. Next, you should check whether the filament is intact, measuring the resistance with an ohmmeter. If the resistance shows an infinite value, the thread is burned out. In this case, as already mentioned, the flask can no longer be used. The most vulnerable components of the electronic converter are capacitors C5, C4, C3, they fail under overloads. Often, when a posistor or a low-resistance resistor R1 is out of order, this should be addressed first and foremost by repairing energy-saving lamps with ballast. It makes sense to check and active elements - transistors VT, diodes VD1-VD4 rectifier bridge.

Attention! It is necessary to observe the rules of electrical safety and not undertake to repair energy-saving lamps, without having the skills of working with electrical appliances.
