Pushbutton switches with and without latching

A pushbutton switch is an element of electrical equipment that enjoys an increased consumer demand and is found almost everywhere. One of its main uses is the ability to control the flow of electrical energy by pressing a special button. The most operated are the button switches KE, VKI, VK and others.

Types of pushbuttons

The pushbutton switch is designed for use in electric circuits with alternating current in the network, at voltages up to 380V. By the control method, lighting switches of this type are divided into:

  • Pushing;
  • Rotary;
  • Combined (to turn on the lighting they need to be pressed, and to control the level of illumination - to turn).

Scope of push-button switches

Most often, pushbuttons are used in household appliances and mobile lighting devices. They are included in the complete set of control panels, cabinets in fixed installations, panels. Special operating conditions for pushbutton switches are not needed, therefore as during operation the temperature range can be from -60 to +40 degrees with relative humidity up to 100%. They can be used for external and internal installation, in chemically active environments, in explosive areas, in oil and gas industry and other industries.

There are many models designed to control the basic lighting in the room. They look like neat buttons.

Pushbutton switches with and without latching

Switches of this type can be:

  • With fixation;
  • Without fixation.

The pushbutton switch without fixing means manual control. It works as long as the person holds the button. Such models are often used for control panels, in which their main advantages are best manifested - maximum protection against accidental inclusion and compactness. This is practically the only type of device that has manual control. In the switched-on position, it is simply impossible to leave it.

The pushbutton switch with latching from the operating state is output only by pressing again. This kind of device is considered more common, because as one person can manage a large number of current consumers.

Features of design of push-button switches

These controls for a variety of colors, design and shapes are very few inferior to key switches. If you want, you can choose a model with or without light, find products in the style of Art Nouveau, retro and so on.

A push-button switch of a conventional design is made, as a rule, in plastic cases, due to which these products have a low cost. If they are handled with care, they can last a fairly long time, withstanding many thousands of switching cycles. The pushbutton switch with a latch for added convenience of users is supplemented with a light indicator indicating the status of this device (off or on). If similar products will be used in difficult conditions, it is recommended that they be purchased in an anti-vandal design, because they have excellent mechanical strength.

If necessary, the keys and buttons of the switches can be covered with a splash cap, which will significantly extend the life of the device and reduce the risk of a short circuit.

Cost of products Depends on their performance and design features. For example, a push-button switch without fixing will cost a little less than an analog. The difference in price between products in the usual and special or vandal-proof performance will be quite appreciable.

Connectivity

The circuit of pushbuttons is very simple. Their main nodes are:

  • Fixed contacts;
  • Bridge, which is equipped with movable contacts;
  • Spring for the return of the bridge.

The principle of connecting products is the same as for the keyboard analogs - the closing / opening phase.

Switches push-button VK16-19

Products of this series are used to control AC circuits with alternating current of 50 and 60 Hz, as well as with voltage up to 220V. In addition, the products are used for circuits with a constant current and voltage not exceeding 220 V. The pushbutton switch BK16-19 comes complete with an integrated warning light, which is necessary for the light indication in the operating position.

Application

Switches of this type are mainly used for the assembly of consoles, panels, posts and control cabinets in various stationary installations, milling equipment, rolling machines, automation systems and electric trains.

Principle of operation of the device

The system of functioning is quite simple. Pressing the starter switches the contacts. In models that go without a latch, when the force is removed, the latch returns to its original position. At this point, the contacts are switched. In pushbutton switches with mechanical fixing, the pusher remains in the depressed state when the force is removed and only returns to the initial position when it is pressed again.

In products with electromagnetic locking when pressed, the electromagnet is switched on, and the pushrod is locked in the pressed position. When it is turned off, it will return to its original position.

Switches KE

This is a unified device intended for conducting commutation of the electric circuit of direct and alternating current.

Equipment Features

The push-button switch KE is used in almost all spheres of industry. Such equipment is purchased both by mechanics for machine tools, and by electricians for control panels. Products of this series are used on mobile units or on stationary equipment.

The composition of such a device includes:

  • Unified contact elements;
  • control device;
  • Fasteners.

In the switch, the drive is the device responsible for the tightness of the connection and the pusher. It is equipped with a warning light, which notifies the personnel about the working condition. Closing / disconnecting contacts are not connected to each other. When you press the working pusher, the traverse moves, which opens / closes the contact.

Before installing the product, it is necessary to remove the front ring, tighten the nut with the splines to the stop so that the switch does not turn. The button is pushed into the hole by the back side, so that there is a ring antenna. Then, while holding the device, it is necessary to tighten the frontal ring axially to the stop, carry the supply wires and connect to the equipment.

Switches push-button with blocking of VKI

This device, which is designed for rare switching of single- and three-phase loads, both inductive and active (in electric motors, heating and lighting devices). The scope of the switches in this series is very diverse. They are used in electrified construction machines and mechanisms (concrete mixers of small volumes, power tools, street lighting circuits, mobile fan heaters, pumps, compressors, etc.).

When using such a device, additional means of protection against overload and short circuit must be provided, since the switch of the button CRI does not have built-in overcurrent protection. These can be circuit breakers or fuses. The product of this series consists of a plastic base, divided into 3 parts, each of which has contact brass holders, directed towards each other. On the one hand, they are connected to the conductors of the network and the load, and on the other - to the contacts.

In order for the button with the lock to be able to work as long as possible, it is necessary to adhere to the following rules when operating:

  • The ambient temperature should not be above 50 degrees.
  • The switch must not be in an explosive area. The room should not contain high concentrations of dust, as dustiness greatly reduces the performance of the device.
  • Vibration load should not exceed the permissible frequency (60 Hz).
  • It is recommended to avoid the influence of direct sun rays.
  • Pushbutton switches with the blocking of the series of FRI can occupy any position in space.

Only when these recommendations are followed can you confidently use this or that device.
