Armavir Diocese. A bit of history

A lot of words were written about the Russian Orthodox Church. For ministers of the church and parishioners, who constantly go to church, it is more or less clear. I want to make a little clarity for people who are looking for information and can not find it.

Subsections of the Diocese

To begin with, we need to understand that the Russian Orthodox Church is divided into dioceses. They include churches, which are headed by a bishop. They, in turn, unite diocesan institutions. It can be several monasteries, parishes, some spiritual and educational schools, brotherhoods and sisterhoods. In order to create a diocese, it must be approved by the Holy Synod, and then the statement will be followed in the Bishops' Council.

Today there are a lot of dioceses. There is the Abakan Diocese, Alatyr Diocese, Alexandria, and even Argentine and South American. The location of each diocese can be judged by its name.

What is included in the Armavir Diocese?

The Armavir Diocese of the Moscow Patriarchate has in its composition all parishes, churches, which are located directly in the city of Armavir and nearby areas: Ust-Labinsky, Novokubansky, Gulkevichsky, Mostovskiy, Otradnensky, Labinsky, Uspensky and Kurganinsky districts of the Krasnodar Territory. And they, in turn, are part of the Kuban Metropolia of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Armavir Diocese was revived as an independent department in 2013 in March. Before that, she was a member of the Ekaterinodar Diocese of the Krasnodar Territory.

Bishops of the Armavir and Labinsk eparchy

For all of its existence, the Diocese of Armavir was headed by 3 bishops.

At the head of the Armavir vicariate of the Stavropol diocese was Simeon (Nikolsky). He was a missionary, preacher, vicar of the Kuban diocese. At one time he became a graduate of the Moscow Theological Seminary and the Moscow Theological Academy. He became especially famous for his sermons.

The first bishop of the Armavir Diocese was Isidore (in the world his name was Nikolai Vasilievich Kirichenko), born May 25, 1941. At first he graduated from the Leningrad Theological Seminary, and then there also the Academy. For his life, full of service to the church, was elected People's Deputy of the USSR. Since 2007 he is the rector of the Ekaterinodar Theological Seminary. He has many spiritual as well as state awards.

Since April 13, 2014, Archimandrite Ignatius (in the world he was called Konstantin Buzin), being a cleric of the Tikhvin Diocese, took the rank of bishop of Armavir and Labinsky. He was born in the city of Krivoy Rog of the Ukrainian SSR in a family of employees. After moving to Gelendzhik, he studied in high school, then in a medical school. His monastic ministry began in 1994 after a vigil. His spiritual training took place in the theological seminary of St. Petersburg. First he became a hierodeacon, then a hieromonk. Some time after returning from the Sergievo-Primorsky desert, Ignatius was elevated to the hegumen. And a few years later in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, during the Divine Liturgy, Ignatius was named Bishop of the Armavir and Labin dioceses.
