Profile guide - simplicity and reliability

Just a few years ago, when constructing partitions, masters had to suffer for a very long time, because wooden bars were used as a frame . And not the best quality. And if it was required to make a wrong-shaped design, then, as they say in the common people, at least Hang yourself. But as soon as the profile has appeared on the market, the production of partitions has been much easier. The metal frame allows to realize the most bizarre forms.

When manufacturing interior partitions , a rigid frame of a metal profile is used as the basis for them . It is produced by the method of cold rolling a tape made of galvanized steel with a thickness of up to 0.8 millimeters. The galvanized layer protects the guiding profile for drywall from external factors. This measure is necessary because the partitions and ducts are sometimes assembled and in damp rooms, for example, in bathrooms or shower rooms.

A guide profile is produced in the main with a length of three meters. In order to withstand heavy loads, for example, when facing the partitions with ceramic tiles, stiffeners are made on the profiles.

When assembling frames, profiles of different types are used, each of which has its own purpose.

The first type is the rack-mount profile

  • It has an «-shaped shape and abbreviation PS. The main function is the fastening to it of drywall sheets or other finishing materials used in the manufacture of partitions and boxes.

The second type is the profile

  • Also produced in the form of a channel and briefly called PN. When assembling the frame, it acts as a guiding profile for the rack. Throughout the length it has eight-millimeter holes for dowels for mounting to the floor or wall.

The third type is the angular profile

  • It is intended for strengthening of corner joints at installation of drywall. Perforated with 5 mm holes for best bonding with gypsum board when applying putty. Short name is PU. It is also produced in length of three meters.

The fourth type is the arch profile

  • It is used for manufacturing curved surfaces from plasterboard. For its production, a ceiling guide profile PP-60/27 is used. With its help, you can specify any bend radius, but not less than fifty centimeters.

Of course, in the manufacture of partitions, not only the guiding profile is used. For this purpose, various insulation materials are used to insulate or create noise insulation. Plasterboard, cement-chipboards, plywood and other materials can be used as the covering.

Modern technologies have greatly facilitated many construction works. A large amount of material allows you to create partitions of different shapes in the interior in a short period of time, and, most importantly, using a guide profile, you can do it yourself, without attracting expensive specialists.
