The Altai Territory is known for its unique and untouched nature. Here for a long time tourists are already rushing to see the pristine flora and fauna. No less known are resort towns of the Altai Territory, such as Yarovoye, Belokurikha, where you can combine a wonderful holiday with treatment. However, the region has a very high healing and health potential, of which few people know except local residents. Let's talk about the possibilities of sanatorium and resort rest in the Altai Territory more.

Geography and climate

In the south-east of Western Siberia, the Altai Territory is located. What is unusual about this place? Here you can see great natural diversity: mountains, steppes, forests, lakes, rivers. Almost all natural zones of Russia are present in the region, except subtropics and the Arctic. The relief of the region is formed by the Altai mountains in the east and south, the West Siberian Plain is located in the center and in the west. The region is very rich in water resources, the main reservoir is the Ob river with a large number of tributaries. The total number of rivers in the region is 17,000, as well as many lakes (13,000). The main riches of the region are belt burs growing on the flat part.

The climate of the Altai Territory is moderate, with a transition to the continental, that is, with a cold winter and a hot summer. The average annual temperature is about plus 2 degrees. The region is characterized by a rather large number of winds, in winter - snowstorms. Winter in the province comes in November, when a permanent snow cover is established, the summer begins at the end of May and lasts until early September. The number of hours of sunshine per year is 2180 (in Sochi, for comparison, 2230), the region occupies the 12th place in the country by this indicator. The resorts of the Altai Territory are a place for a pleasant and comfortable rest, there is something to do both in winter and in summer.

Recreational and Wellness Potential

The great length of the territory of the region, varied terrain, rather mild climate and a large number of mineral and mud sources make the region an extremely rich recreational resource. In the Altai Territory, experts note high indicators of such important resort resources as transparency and ionization of the air, solar radiation, sources of mineral water, accumulation of mud mud.

The researchers argue that the region has the best conditions for the development of the resort in Siberia. In many respects, the local resorts (the Altai Territory) can quite compare with the Crimea. Also in the region there are sources of radon waters and lakes, which, according to the characteristics of water and bottom mud, stand on a par with many famous healing waters of the world. The clean air and saturation of its useful phytoncides makes the Altai Territory extremely useful for healing. The medical resources of the region have been used for more than a hundred years in the resort business, about 40 sanatoriums and dispensaries of different scale have been opened here.

Most popular resorts

The most famous resort of the region is the city of Belokurikha - a health resort of the Russian scale, which is widely known throughout the country. Less well-known resort of regional importance is the town of Yarovoye with a therapeutic lake. Other resorts of the Altai Territory, photos of which can be seen in guidebooks, are less famous, but no less interesting and useful.

First of all it is necessary to name the lakes of the Romanovsky district: Gorkoe, Molokovo, Guseletovo. Also very popular are the mud lakes of the Zavyalovsky District: Baklane, Zavyalovskoe, Mostovoe. The reservoirs of the steppe zone, the Kulundinskoye, Buazhansor, and Burlinskoye are of great potential. All these places have great medical and recreational potential, but so far their tourist infrastructure is less developed.

Resort city Belokurikha

This city-sanatorium, resort Belokurikha (Altai Territory) has its history from the beginning of the 19th century. But as a resort the place begins to develop in the 60s of the 19 th century, when here for the first time they began to build bathhouses. The healing properties of local sources were discovered by the inhabitants, who drew attention to the fact that cows that drink water from them are more healthy and give more milk. Aborigines themselves began to practice bathing in springs, and this helped them get rid of many diseases.

In 1866 the first bathing-place was built there for 16 places. By the end of the 19th century, there was already a health resort, which received about 500 people a year. Further development of the resort was hampered by a pronounced seasonality. At the beginning of the 20th century, the development of territories began. In the 1920s and 1930s a health resort for the leaders of the state is being built here. At this time there is a study of the medicinal properties of local sources. It turns out that the water contains a small amount of radon, as well as a lot of nitrogen, silicon and fluorine. In the 60s, rapid construction begins in Belokurikha, a number of large sanatoriums appear here, the resort acquires all-Union significance.

Belokurikha becomes a year-round resort. At the end of the 20th century, scientists proved that the air here contains a number of useful air ions twice as much as in the Swiss Davos. In the post-perestroika times the resort lost its appeal due to the fact that many tourists rushed abroad. But today the former glory is back to the health resort. New sanatoriums are being built here, infrastructure is developing.

Today, good roads lead here, modern equipment is installed in the sanatoriums. The city employs about 20 medical institutions with a total capacity of about 5 thousand seats. The number of tourists is increasing every year, and this is the reason for the launch of a large-scale project "Belokurikha-2", within which new sanatoria and ski resorts will be built. Today, a magnificent road has already been laid to this place.
