Poets of Pushkin's circle: names, creativity

Konstantin Batiushkov

Konstantin Batiushkov entered the history of Russian literature mainly as a representative of "light poetry", to which belonged both Davydov, Bogdanovich, and Pushkin. Peter Vyazemsky

This poet perceived himself as a poet of modern times, but if at the beginning of the creative path he was in accord with the time in which he lived, then after 1837 he reinterpreted reality and, seeing its negative side, began to accept the past for the norm. Vyazemsky estimated his own destiny as a tragedy of a man who does not want and is not able to live in accordance with the foundations that were characteristic of his century.

Like other poets of the Pushkin circle, he found similarity of his poetic culture with the culture of Alexander Sergeevich. Two poets were close, and Vyazemsky even devoted works to Pushkin. They were both heirs of the 18th century, and since childhood they have absorbed love for reason and enlightenment. In his work Denis Vyazemsky gravitated toward traditional poetic forms: melancholic elegies, freedom-loving clothes, fables, parables, didactics and satire.

Anton Delvig

Like some other poets of the Pushkin circle, this poet reciprocated with Alexander Sergeevich in his youth. They met at the Lyceum, and friendship with Pushkin determined the further aesthetic and literary position of Delvig. In his works he propagandized the image of the poet as a "sloth of the young", embraced romanticism in the classic genres.
