Plateau Karabi-yaila - the karst kingdom of Crimea

The most mysterious and beautiful corners of the Crimea are the mountains. All who have visited the picturesque peninsula, fall in love with them at first sight. Mountain massifs formed after the rise of the bottom of the ancient Tethys ocean admire its plateau-like structure. The peaks that come out of the bosom surprise tourists with their wild beauty.

High-altitude plateaus - jays - attract all ecotourists, going on trips to the delightful corners of the Crimea. The virgin nature and inaccessibility of these places attract travelers who dream of a memorable vacation every year.

The largest plateau

Carabi-yaila is a huge plateau and a mountain range of Kara-Tau, covered with beech forest. Deserted plateau is very similar to the lunar surface, dotted with funnels and craters, in which there are karst caves. The unusual stone sea impresses with its size: it is the largest yayla in the Crimea, occupying an area of about 120 square kilometers.

The plateau, which is part of the main ridge of the Crimean mountains of the peninsula, has always occupied a special position. The karst kingdom amazes at first sight tourists who have got here by the boundless landscape. The most desolate and waterless plateau Karabi-yaila (Crimea) is not in vain called the cave edge, because there are about 250 karst cavities that enjoy incredible popularity among speleologists.

Cave Kingdom

The hilly massif, penetrated by underground mines, carries the person into the world hidden from prying eyes. Many of the funnels are not very deep and are accessible for visiting, while others can be called bottomless, because no one knows their depth.

It is interesting that there are not so many horizontal mines on the terrain. Mama's cave is the most famous karst cavity, which is very difficult to climb, even for professionals, but for those who overcome obstacles, truly fantastic views are opened.

The well of 165 meters is a well crocheologist, another horizontal cave that can easily be descended without special equipment. Big Buzluk, the entrance to which serves as a karst funnel, differs from the rest of the mines by the abundance of ice that does not melt even in the summer.

Egiz-Tinah

Interesting caves Egiz-Tinakh, representing a whole system of vertical-horizontal cavities, connected by underground transitions, are considered the most ancient in the Crimea. Located at one level, the shafts seem to transfer visitors to another dimension, and the imagination draws fantastic figures lurking in complete darkness.

The age-old incrustations of bizarre shapes and shades give the impression that it is not a cave, but a mysterious underground kingdom, the beauty of which is difficult to describe in words.

Findings of archaeologists

The Karabi-Yaila plateau was well studied by archaeologists, who established that people lived here in the ancient Stone Age - Paleolithic. So, here were found about 20 parking lots, located on the slopes of the plateau, closer to the water sources, and the ruins of the stone wall. Of particular interest are four stone statues laid out on the ground, the outlines of which resemble a butterfly with straightened wings.

The figures located at the same distance from each other cause a lot of controversy in the scientific environment, but so far their origin has not been clarified. These figures are located on the watershed, to the north of the Irtysh. This is the most interesting mountain mountain and is of great interest to tourists. Carabi-yaila opens from its top with a fascinating landscape, but the most unusual thing that travelers see is the volcanic origin of the Dinosaur Ridge, reminiscent of the skeleton of a gigantic lizard.

Rock paintings

Traces of human life are preserved and underground. For example, in the mine of the Student Wall are covered with carved patterns on them. Tourists, who came to the plateau of Karabi-yaila, are pleased to consider ancient painting with images of ships, trees, crosses and strange butterflies. A variety of drawings are found in other mines, but only in this their huge number.

In the east of the plateau archaeologists have discovered a burial ground with human bones and remains of ceramic products.

The weather station, which turned into a rescue post

The main reference point of the mysterious plateau is the former meteorological station "Karabi-yaila", perfectly visible from all points of view. Built in the beginning of the XX century and stylized as a medieval castle, it was blown up during the Great Patriotic War. Now a new building has appeared, but no one is following systematic observations of the weather. Here there is a rescue post of the Crimea, helping everyone who needs help, and immediately operates a tourist shelter, placing guests in tents and heated rooms.

How to get to Karabi-yaila?

To get into a treacherous place, devoid of any orientation, you can by bus or by private vehicle. First you need to get to Alushta, from the local bus station to reach Belogorsk or the village of General. Further to the plateau, you can easily reach on foot or by passing cars of local foresters.

Believe that this trip will be the most interesting and memorable adventure in your life.
