Plate for teeth and removable plate prostheses - what is it and why do they serve

An unconditional fact is that you can have treatment at an orthodontist at any age, but if you do not delay putting a visit to the doctor endlessly, then it will be more difficult to fix an occlusion defect. A tooth plate is an orthodontic device that is used to correct an occlusion if it is incorrect. It is classified as a removable device, as it is usually taken out during meals or during oral hygiene.

The plate for teeth is used at the age of twelve. And all because before this age the dentofacial system grows and has greater mobility. Such a device is necessary for a child in the case when it is necessary to change the shape of the jawbone or to prevent the teeth from shifting. Children easily get used to the plates, but control by the parents is necessary, you need to carefully monitor whether the child has removed the plate, whether he forgot to put on after eating.

The plate for the teeth is not able to move the teeth, this is its essential drawback. The greatest efficiency it has in the initial period of the formation of an incorrect occlusion. More serious cases of malocclusion can be corrected only by the bracket system. The use of plates in childhood is considered the most sparing and cheap method of treatment.

In the initial period of installation of the plates, the child will have difficulties, it will be difficult for him to speak, a lot of saliva will be released, but eventually everything will return to normal. The meeting of teeth with its antagonist is inherent in nature, and a plate for teeth helps them in this. If the teeth are not found with their brethren, but with the gum, a traumatic bite may develop. Wearing orthodontic devices helps to eliminate traumatic occlusion.

If you do not follow all the prescriptions of the doctor, in the future the child may need expensive and long treatment. Form a uniform position of the dentition and relieve strained muscles will help plate on the teeth. It is necessary to take care of it, gently wash it, and sometimes even twist the screw.

Removable plate prostheses are the most accessible and widespread type of removable prosthetics. But, according to the patients, they are not very comfortable. Plastic base and fixed ceramic crowns are a component of such types of prosthesis. Plastic, from which they are made, can be of two types: hard and soft.

The first option, which presupposes the production of solid plastic - is a widespread prosthesis. They are very hard and uncomfortable, but they are accessible to the absolute majority of patients.

The second option is a soft plastic prosthesis. These flexible nylon dentures are extremely comfortable, soft, quick to get used to, but are much more expensive than those made from hard plastics.

Indications for the use of plate prostheses are the following: the absence of all or a few teeth (sometimes even one), or adentia (in this case, the plate prostheses play the role of the familiar "plug-in jaw"). Sometimes they completely cover the palate on the upper jaw, and on the lower - they rest solely on the gums, or are attached with the help of metal hooks to natural teeth.

Plastic prostheses, made of nylon and soft plastic, are attached to the gums very reliably and do not cause the patient absolutely no trouble. Prostheses of solid plastics are not so well fixed, they can rub gums, and metal hooks are sometimes visible when communicating and cling to the patient's living teeth.

The uniformity of load distribution during chewing on bone tissue, the speed and simplicity of manufacturing are the main advantages of removable plate prostheses. And another plus - they are easy to take care of. Changing the diction in some cases, lowering the threshold of sensitivity, since they cover the main receptors of taste, can be attributed to the main drawbacks of removable plate prostheses. But these devices do not have a very high cost, quite affordable for a person with an average income.
