What is the name of the person who loves people? You can answer monosyllabically - philanthropist. And nothing more to explain. Philanthropist - well, that's great! A beautiful word, it sounds noble. But this term means, in fact, much more than abstract philanthropy. First of all, a philanthropist is a person who embodies in practical forms a love for his neighbor.

History of the term

It has already been said above how a person who loves people is called. This term derives from two other ancient Greek words meaning "man" and "love." By the way, in the same ancient Greece there was a developed institute of charity, and many outstanding historical figures were engaged in this very actively. Thus, Gaius Julius Caesar rendered various assistance to the poorer strata of the population as a tool for maintaining their popularity among subjects. However, in those days, charity came to the needy not in the form of money, but in the form of food, clothing, home repair, treatment, etc. This is the name of the person who loves people.

In the future, charity has become one of the most significant phenomena in Russian and Western societies. And if in European countries philanthropy is developing and to this day, then charity in Russia has disappeared along with the revolution. In the USSR, all were equal, respectively, there were no rich and poor, so there were no objects of assistance and those who would do it.

People should be loved not in words, but in deeds

On the one hand, there is a huge lack of philanthropy in our society. People are increasingly separated from each other, are not interested in the affairs of even their parents and relatives. It's no secret that the consumer attitude in modern society is already spreading not only to consumer goods, but it has already "spilled" and human relationships. On the other hand, there is a revival of the culture of charity and all sorts of studies show that people are sacrificing more and more every year.

Another question is, in what form is this happening. We see how on other charitable actions there are women and men dressed in furs and diamonds who collect money for an orphanage, a hospital or for targeted help. Frankly, such activities have little to do with true philanthropy. In this case, for many characters, this is an opportunity to simply attract attention to yourself and create an informational excuse. Not to mention such things, when numerous charitable funds are just a cover for laundering and pumping money from people and the budget. However, we will not talk about sad things, because there must be true philanthropists on Earth ...

What should a person who loves people do?

What is called charity - philanthropy, sponsorship, patronage, patronage - it does not matter. The main thing is not the form, but the content. A real philanthropist is a subject who sacrifices his time, means, personal comfort and convenience to improve and alleviate the fate of those who need it.

Modern philanthropists are far from their predecessors both in terms of the amount of donated sums and the technology of rendering assistance. Today no one, at least in the civilized world and among really solid, large-scale philanthropists, does not give money, so to speak, "just like that." These people have come up with whole systems of financing, which include various funds, companies, organizations that control income and expenditure of funds.

Modern philanthropists

As for the objects of charity, today people in need need help, the poor, suffering from hunger, serious climate disasters. A philanthropist can also assist a particular person, university, school or other organization. In the US, where the richest and most influential philanthropists are, many billionaires and millionaires demonstrate their willingness to share their fortunes with people in need. In addition, some of them in life give part of their money, or will be theirs to hand over after their death.

This is the name of the person who loves people. I want to believe that this concept will never disappear, no matter how fantastic our technical progress is.
