Modern youth and its value orientations

Who among us at one time did not hear from the elderly the sacred phrase about the fact that the current modern youth is not the same, and its values and ideals are far from the "gold" standards of the past? Perhaps, such a statement lives for more than a decade, if not centuries. But why is the older generation so negative about the next? And than today's young people deserve a negative statement in their address? Let's try to look at this question from different angles.

Indeed, in recent years, there has been a significant narrowing of the circle of interests of the younger generation. The main indicator of the tendency to reduce the level of social significance of a person as an individual is different value orientations. Modern youth is no longer so important worthy education and self-development, as it was twenty or thirty years ago. Yes, the new generation has always been condemned by the previous generation for introducing certain innovations into the sphere of values. However, it is now possible to say that it is material goods, rather than spiritual ones, that are the social reference points for them. Basically, young people tend to reach any heights, while forgetting to develop in other directions. On the one hand, the desire to occupy a high position in society is a worthy indicator of success. But is it possible to achieve something without taking diligent attempts to move forward? Of course not. But the modern youth in most cases wants to get everything without making any special efforts. This is a very disturbing sign.

Young people in modern society were largely influenced by the media. The general availability of scenes of violence and cruelty, the propagation of the commercial basis of interpersonal relations, the obsessive view that it is possible to achieve any heights in life exclusively by adjusting to the stereotypes of the majority - all this forms the army of the same kind of individuals oriented to the parasit's standard of living. Yes, they may have certain ambitions. But only the ways of their implementation are clearly not the same as they were before. And no one says that the old system was perfect and did not contain errors in principle. Simply, the ideology was completely different, aimed at developing in the person of responsibility, a sense of duty and the desire for personal growth.

It can not be said that the modern youth completely lost these qualities. Among her there are a large number of really serious people who are ready to go to their goal and to comprehend new levels in the development of themselves as a mature and fully adequate person. Therefore, before blaming everyone and everyone for the loss of social values, one should remember that among every generation there are limited people.

The correct formation of a diversified personality begins primarily with the family. Proper education will allow parents to reduce the negative impact of the surrounding social environment. Even if the immoral style of life is actively promoted around, deviant behavior and deviation from the norms of established rules, the modern youth, having received the proper foundations of their family, will go their own individual way of development. And maybe it will lead them to the top step of the social ladder. Therefore, in no case can not completely shift the education of a teenager on the environment. Otherwise, he will be very dependent on the changes in society.

Summing up, we can say the following. Negative sides were always, for whatever generation we looked. Society does not stand still, developing and developing like a spiral. The way of life, the image and behavior of people is changing . However, the main moral and ethical norms and principles must be preserved in person, so that the modern youth could independently choose their own way of development, not focusing on a volatile environment and questionable propaganda.
