Overview of the new Acura TLX

The serial version of the new Acura TLX (pictured below) was first shown to the public during the exhibition in New York in 2014. It should be noted that the car in many ways is similar to its conceptual version, several months earlier debuted in Detroit. According to the developers, the novelty should replace the modifications of TS and TSX.

Distinctive features

Despite the apparent external similarity of the Acura TLX 2015 model year with its conceptual version, there are some differences. First of all, the changes have touched the exterior of the car. In particular, the designers slightly changed the skirts, significantly reduced the number of chrome elements on the body, and also removed the large discs. Any other innovations for the car, which should appear on the market in free sale tentatively next fall, is not envisaged.

The model will remain well-known to motorists radiator grilles, squat lower part, idiosyncratic ribs on the hood, as well as standard LED lamps on the headlights. In other words, athleticism, which is typical for most models from this manufacturer, will not disappear anywhere and with the Acura TLX. It should be noted that the serial version, according to many experts, looks a little more interesting compared to the prototype. This is due to a less massive appearance and clearer outlines.

Standard equipment

One of the main advantages of the latest modification of the Acura TLX is the technical characteristics. As standard, a four-cylinder engine is available, with a working capacity of 2.4 liters. Power of the power plant - 206 horsepower. As for the gearbox, it uses a robotic "automatic" for eight steps. It is equipped with a torque converter, which is the company's own development. The standard version of the car is equipped with a front drive only.

Other complete sets

The second version of the motor, which is installed on the car, is a petrol V-shaped six-cylinder engine with a capacity of 290 "horses". Its volume is 3.5 liters. The Acura TLX is equipped with an automatic transmission with nine stages. As an option, it is possible to install an all-wheel drive system called "Super-Handling". As for the mechanical transmission, it is not foreseen in any of the TLS modifications. In this regard, everyone who wants to buy a new sedan from this manufacturer with "mechanics" the company recommends paying attention to the model "TL SH-AWD" or "ILX". Whatever it was, one can not but note the fact that they will be removed from production in the very near future.

Engineering solutions

The Acura TLX sedan is based on the TL modification. Together with this, the novelty became shorter than the previous version by ten centimeters, which led to the use of smaller overhangs both in front and behind. Thanks to the use of the Precision All-Whell Steer rear wheel steering system, the handling of the car has improved significantly. Representatives of the manufacturer emphasize that this solution has become standard for all modern Acura vehicles equipped with a front-wheel drive. The nature of this car can be customized by choosing one of four modes - "economy", "normal", "sport" and "sport plus". They depend on the operation of the transmission, the sensitivity of the steering wheel, the acceleration of the engine and the exhaust.

Interior

Since the novelty is designed to replace models such as TL and TSX, the design engineers have made every effort to surpass them in all aspects. This applies to the interior of the car. In particular, for the upholstery of the salon there is used wood and high-quality leather "Milano". The front seats of the Acura TLX are equipped with heating and ventilation systems. On the central panel, the designers placed two sensory infotainment and information monitors at once. The upper display is for displaying navigation information, and through the lower screen the system "AcuraLink" is controlled. For ease of use, a central large button is provided. Especially for this model the car was developed 10-component speaker system, which is called "ELS Studio". It should be noted that at the request of the customer it is possible to install additional equipment packages for a certain fee.

As for safety, the car uses a warning system about the high probability of frontal collision and tracking of "blind" zones. In addition, the model is equipped with a function, the purpose of which is to warn the driver about the need to leave the occupied band. In order to maintain the position of the machine, it uses brakes and steering. The standard version of the six-cylinder modifications is equipped with a button selector.

Fuel consumption

The reduction in the total mass of the car had a favorable effect not only on its maneuverability, but also on fuel consumption, which decreased significantly in comparison with the TL and TSX modifications. In cars with a four-cylinder engine it is an average of 9.8 and 6.7 liters per hundred kilometers in the city and on the road, respectively. For cars equipped with "six" and four-wheel drive, the need for fuel is 11.2 and 6.9 liters. Such good indicators give grounds to hope for the Acura TLX car receiving a high rating from the Environmental Protection Agency.
