Oftakwix (eye drops)

"Oftakwix" (eye drops) is an antimicrobial drug. The main active substance in its composition is levofloxacin (L-isomer of racemic substance of ofloxacin), which has antimicrobial activity. This drug can be used in inflammatory eye damage caused by micro-organisms resistant to the action of macrolides, aminoglycosides and beta-lactam antibiotics. After application, levofloxacin remains in the tear film for a long time.

"Oftakwix": instructions for use

Indications for use: Oftakwix is an eye drop used to treat a variety of superficial eye infections and eye appendages in people older than one year old. Such diseases include acute and subacute conjunctivitis, blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, bacterial ulcers of the cornea, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, chronic dacryocystitis, meibomites.

In addition, Oftakwix (eye drops) is used for preventive purposes to prevent complications in the postoperative and preoperative period during various operations on the eyes. In the future, the drug can be prescribed and for the treatment of infectious diseases after ophthalmic operations on the eyeball and its adnexa.

Mode of application:

"Oftakwix" is applied locally. The solution is instilled in the infected eye. The first two days of the drug use 1-2 drops once every two hours, but no more than 8 times a day. Over the next 3 days, drops drip 1-2 drops 4 times a day. The full course of treatment, namely its duration, is determined by the attending physician. As a rule, treatment takes 5 days.

Side effects:

The use of the drug "Oftakwix" (eye drops) may be accompanied by some adverse reactions. Among such reactions - burning in the eyes, reduced visual acuity, as well as the appearance of mucous bands on the conjunctiva. Sometimes blepharitis, chemosis, eyelid edema, unpleasant sensations in the eyes, itching, pain, congestion hyperemia, follicles, dry eye syndrome and the like can develop. Instructions for use with other medicines and contraindications:

The use of eye drops is prohibited during lactation and pregnancy, with high sensitivity to the quinoline series of drugs and additional components that are part of the "Oftakwix". The drug is also contraindicated for children under one year. If you are already dealing with any chronic disease, be sure to check with your doctor for the possibility of taking drops individually.

Unfortunately, the interaction of the drug with other drugs was not investigated. In principle, with topical application, the compatibility of levofloxacin with other drugs is not clinically important.

The drug must be stored in a dry, dark place out of the reach of children. The temperature during storage should not be more than 25 degrees. "Oftakvix" is valid for no more than 3 years from the date of issue.

Form: The drug is a light yellow or light green solution for eye drops in a 5 ml vial with a dropper packed in a cardboard box.
