pharmachologic effect

The drug "Nazonex" is a local SCS agent that has anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effects. The local effect of the drug may have only those doses that do not affect systemic effects.

The drug inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators. The drug increases the synthesis of lipomodulin, which is an inhibitor of phospholipase A, as a result of which the release of arachidonic acid decreases, as well as the inhibition of the synthesis of its metabolites, prostaglandins and cyclic endoperoxides.

In addition, nazonex can reduce the synthesis of the chemotaxis substance, thereby inhibiting the onset of an immediate allergic reaction.

Also during the research was found a high anti-inflammatory activity against the mucous membranes of the nose.

Pharmacokinetics of nazonex

The instruction says that the bioavailability of the drug with intranasal application is less than 0.1%. In addition, mometasone furoate is very poorly defined in the blood. It is possible to get parts of the drug in the gastrointestinal tract, but in this case, at the first passage of the drug through the liver, it is actively biotransformed.

Indications for use nazoneks

The instructions may not include a complete list of indications for the use of this drug.

  • Treatment of allergic rhinitis in all age groups (except children under 2 years)
  • Treatment of chronic sinusitis in all age groups (with complex therapy)
  • Prevention of allergic rhinitis (should be taken for 2-4 weeks)

Side effects nazoneks

The instruction says about various side effects, depending on the systems and organs.

Side effects of nazonex, as the main treatment for rhinitis:

  • Nasal bleeding (pronounced and staining of discharge)
  • Pharyngitis
  • Irritation of the nasal mucosa
  • Burning in the nose

Nasal bleeding usually passed independently in a few days and was not severe enough. In children, the above symptoms are also accompanied by a headache, sneezing.

Side effects of nazonex as an auxiliary treatment for sinusitis:

  • Pharyngitis
  • Headache
  • Irritation of mucosa
  • Burning in the nose

Nasal bleeding is not numerous and passes independently for several days.

Very rarely, but nevertheless, the effects of perforation of the nasal septum are also rare, but intraocular pressure increases.

Patients who are treated with SCS have a reduced resistance, and also have an increased risk of infection in the future.

Studies on the effect of the drug on pregnancy have not been conducted, but according to the fact that the concentration of the drug in the blood after administration is rather small, it can be assumed that the fetus will be given a very small part and, as a consequence, a small toxic effect. But, the appointment of this drug to pregnant, nursing and women of childbearing age, should be made only after the ratio of all risks to the patient's health and the child's future.

Contraindications
