Poems of IS. Turgenev "Dog", "Sparrow", "Russian language": analysis. A poem in Turgenev's prose: a list of works

Summing up the life path, thinking about eternal questions, dreary waiting for the end of life, conquered by faith in the eternal life of one's creativity-this tonality permeates the works to which our obkor analysis is devoted. The poem in Turgenev's prose (each of them) is the embodiment of the worldly wisdom of the writer, whose genius allowed to convey literally in several lines what is embodied in dozens of philosophical treatises.

Borderline genre

This genre, which relates simultaneously to prose and poetry, arose in the romantic era as a reaction to the strict aesthetics of classicism. Each poem in Turgenev's prose - Beggar, Russian Language, Sparrow, etc. - relies to some extent on the works of his predecessors: Jules Lefevre-Demier, Charles Baudelaire and many others. The genre created by romantics had much more in common with lyric poetry than with prose, due to:

  • Conciseness;

  • The weakening of the narrative;

  • Rich imagery;

  • Lyrical pathos.

At the same time, such poems did not have rhymes or even rhythmic organization, which differed from the closest "relatives" in literature - vers libre and white verse.

How many were "Turgenev's poems in prose"?

To small, one might say, miniature prose, Turgenev turned already in the declining years, after writing such masterpieces as "Notes of a Hunter" and "Fathers and Sons." This explains the peculiar epithet to which the writer has given his cycle, the "Old" one. During the life of the author, only 51 poems were published in the "Bulletin of Europe" in 1882. The rest 30 writers could not prepare, and they came out only in 1930.

The same themes of poems in Turgenev's prose permeate the entire cycle. Motives of old age, love, homeland, loneliness - before us the world of the person anticipating a close death is revealed. This color prosaic verses in tragic tones. Meanwhile, feelings of loneliness and disappointment are accompanied by a different emotional palette - love of the Motherland, the Russian language, in which the traditions of the people and their worldview are concluded.

"Sparrow": love is stronger than death

Let's start the analysis. The poem in Turgenev's prose "The Sparrow" ends with lines that have become aphoristic: "Love is stronger than death." The reason for this was the everyday situation: the sparrows fell out of the nest due to a strong wind. The hunter's dog ran to the chick, as if feeling a game. However, after a moment another sparrow rushed to the ground to protect the fallen fellow.

A bold act causes the narrator a feeling of reverence. For a brave bird, a dog might seem like a real monster, but some force forces it to leave a safe haven and look into the face of danger. This story is called the love by the narrator, on which all life rests. Awareness of this comes even to Treasor - and a miracle happens: a dog that is several times larger than its victim retreats before love ...

Such themes of poems in Turgenev's prose, like love, her victory over death, have sounded repeatedly. Here it is stressed that all the nature submits to this luminous feeling, the whole Universum moves by it.

"Dog": one and the same life clings to each other

The image of fate, death can be called through for Turgenev's poems. So, in one of them, death is a repulsive insect, which anyone can pierce with its own sting. This topic will be further developed by Turgenev. "Dog" (a poem in prose) unlike "Sparrow" does not have any clear story. Rather, it boils down to the reflections of the protagonist, sitting in the room with the dog, fleeing from a violent storm.

In this monologue of the stream of consciousness, tragic notes sound: that a man, that a dumb animal in the face of eternity are the same. Sooner or later, death will fly and it will extinguish forever the flame lit by someone. "One and the same life clings timidly to another" - so is the fear of the inevitable death of Turgenev. The "dog", a poem in prose, is similar to "Sparrow" by the assertion of certain laws that are characteristic of the universe, and humanity can not be avoided. However, in the first work such a law is love, and in the second - death.

Man, unlike a dog, is capable of self-awareness. "She does not understand herself," says the hero-narrator of a companion in misfortune. But man, as a highly intellectual being, is aware of the imminent death. This is at the same time his curse and blessing. Punishment is similar moments of frustration and fear in the face of impending doom. Blessing is an opportunity, despite inevitable death, to find the meaning of life and change its course depending on the results of this constant search.

Hymn to the Russian language

As the analysis showed, the poem in Turgenev's prose "The Russian Language" opens another theme of the cycle - patriotic. In a small work (just a few lines) the author put all his pride in the Russian language, having absorbed the features of a great people, which remained unshakable in the days of any trials. That's why it's so important to attend every lesson of literature from the school's bench. Turgenev poem in prose creates an extremely emotional, and in the "Russian language" this pathos reaches its apogee.

Let's pay attention to the epithets. The author calls the Russian language great, powerful, truthful and free. Each of these definitions has a profound meaning. The Russian language is great and powerful, because it contains rich resources for expressing thoughts. Truthful and free - because that is his carrier, people.

Speech is a phenomenon that is not given from somewhere above, it is created by people who consider it to be their own. The Russian language, multifaceted and beautiful, corresponds to our people, sincere, mighty and freedom-loving.

Instead of concluding

As the analysis has shown, the poem in Turgenev's prose - each of them considered by us - belongs to the vertex works of Russian literature. Despite their small amount, the author was able to reveal important topics, which to this day do not cease to excite humanity.
