Name day of Daniel. Days of the name day of Daniel in the church calendar

In our time, few people celebrate the Day of Name Day. And few people think about what this day means. And yet it is quite an important holiday, although it makes sense only when a person adheres to Orthodox or Catholic views. The fact is that the name-day is a purely church holiday. The names of a person are a day of the memory of that saint, in honor of whom he was baptized. Of course, there are many saints with the same name. But the patron of them is selected only one. If it happened that a person baptized as a child does not know a saint, after whom he was called, he can choose his patron on his own - either on the basis of personal sympathies or according to the following practice: it is necessary to find in the church calendar the nearest to the date of birth the day of the memory of his namesake . This is something holy and will be considered a patron, and this day - the name-day. Change in the future once made the choice is impossible - the spiritual connection between a person and his saints remains forever.

Below, we will look at the days on which the Daniel's feast day can be held according to the Orthodox calendar. It is worth mentioning immediately that this is the main, but not the complete list of the same saints. There are no such saints, in which the names of all the saints known in Orthodoxy would be collected. There are many local, national, overseas church glorified by the saints of God, who are not known in Russia or who are not surrounded by all-church veneration. Therefore, when choosing a patron, one can show some flexibility and turn to the list of saints, for example, the Bulgarian, Serbian, Alexandrian or some other Orthodox local church.
