Movies about the plane crash. List of documentaries about air crash

Annually in the world there are many catastrophes, tragic consequences of which they remember for many years. Earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, explosions in factories and plants, oil spills on the surface of the World Ocean, crashes of airplanes and trains - all these events bear fear, pain and tears. It is impossible to predict the occurrence of this or that tragedy with an accuracy to the minute. However, it is possible to reduce the risk of an event or reduce the scale of a disaster.

Using the bitter experience

Any crash of an aircraft is a catastrophe, the consequences of which are experienced not only by the families of the deceased, but by the entire society. The death of people is always painful and scary. Every air crash is a kind of lesson for humanity. Using the mistakes that led to this or that tragedy, people learn to build safer planes, quickly evacuate passengers and overcome crisis situations. The lives of many people were saved only because the aircraft crashed sometime.

The screen version of the terrible tragedies

Currently, filmmakers around the world are shooting films about a plane crash. The plot of some of them is based on fictitious stories. However, there are also documentaries. The air crashes described in such tapes, really happened. The plot of the picture, as a rule, relies on the memories of surviving pilots and passengers, eyewitnesses of tragedies, opinions of aviation experts and other information. Real events and non-industrial facts are the basis of all documentary films. The description in the film of an airplane crash, earthquake or other sad event pursues several goals. The first is the disclosure of the cause of the tragedy. The second is the desire to show how to properly behave in an extreme situation. The third is a reduction in the risk of a recurrence of a tragedy.

Movies about air crashes are filmed in many countries. Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan and many other states with the mouths of directors tell about the tragedies that happened to their ships. This primarily applies to documentary films. Many of the filmed pictures also contain fictional facts and fictional characters. However, the directors of these works in this way seek to show the public the possible consequences of one or another case, or the negligence of one person.

Documentary series from Canada

A little over 10 years ago on the channel National Geographic the film "Investigation of air crashes" began to be broadcast. The homeland of this series is Canada. It was in Toronto that a group of people came up with the idea of screening all the tragedies that occurred in the sky and releasing them for public viewing under one common name. To date, the air has more than sixty episodes, each of which - a forty-minute film-plane crash. On real events, every issue is based. Any of the series has the following structure: the film tells about the tragedy of one, less often two, aircraft. The first part of it is a kind of historical reconstruction of the events that took place. It describes in detail all the points that somehow affected the tragedy. In order to accurately restore the catastrophe, all possible means are used: memories of eyewitnesses and survivors, data from flight recorders , etc.

The second half of the series reveals to the viewer the causes of the plane crash. There are interviews with various specialists helping to dot the "i". As a final point, the conclusions of the investigation commission are given and the errors of the crew, manufacturers, dispatchers, maintenance personnel or any other person who somehow influenced the accident occurred are demonstrated. Some series contain an explanatory part, which describes in detail the way to prevent a disaster, as well as what steps are being taken to prevent similar monstrous incidents from happening again.

The Russian-American product

There are also international documentaries. The air crashes described in them unite not only countries, but also continents. For example, a tape based on real events, released in 1997 in cooperation between film companies in Russia and the United States. The title of the film is "Air crashes of the world" - it speaks for itself. Having entered the ladder of the plane, the passenger ceases to belong to himself. His fate is completely in the hands of those who designed and manufactured the aircraft, those who sit in the cockpit at the pilot's place and those who control and service the aircraft from the control room.

The real events, which are the basis of the film, are riveted to the screen of the viewer with their exciting details. The film does not contain any embellished moments. There are no Hollywood special effects. Directed by this picture can be no exaggeration to call fate and providence itself. As scriptwriters - black boxes of aircraft, and the main characters of the film are metal "carcasses" of Boeing, Stelz, MiGs, who entered the struggle for survival and who were tragically unlucky ...

Air disasters

For people who want to know more information about the tragic stories that occurred in the sky, there are other films about the plane crash. The list is very long. Each of them shows the viewer a story with a tragic end. For example, a series of documentaries from the company Discovery Channel "Aircrash Confidential", which translates as "Air crashes. Top secret". This series was released in 2012. In each series, the events of aircraft crashes of various airlines are clearly and clearly detailed.

"Seconds Before the Catastrophe"

English directors Steve Webb, Dan Gold and Paul Burgess decided to unite all the tragedies that have ever occurred on the planet and around it, and release a multi-episode tape that tells about these events. They did it with brilliance. In 2004, the first series of a large project entitled "Seconds Before the Catastrophe" was released on TV screens. As in many other similar series, in this English version for the reconstruction of historical events, eyewitness accounts and participants in terrible events were used, as well as various documents and media. The main difference between this film and similar products is the narrative of absolutely all tragedies: natural disasters, man-made accidents, train and car crashes, explosions, terrorist attacks, wars, etc. The series also contains short films about the plane crash.

"Alive: History of the Saved in the Andes"

We turn our attention to more ancient events. In 1972, the Andes crashed an Uruguayan plane. On board was a rugby team, their relatives and friends. All these people flew to Santiago for a friendly match. But fate decreed otherwise. Their plane did not reach Chile. In conditions of dense fog, the pilot did not see the rocky peaks of the mountain peaks and accidentally touched one of them with a wing. As a result, the airbus collapsed onto a rocky chain. Thanks to the snow cover, the blow was softened, and most of the people survived. Now they face one goal: to survive before the arrival of rescuers. The cold, lack of simple tourist equipment and quickly ended supplies put a group of survivors in front of a difficult choice: either die or disregard moral principles and ... start eating human meat. These and many other events originally formed the basis of Pierce Paul Read's book "The Living: The History of the Saved in the Andes". And in the early 90's American director Frank Marshall decided to film the work, and already in 1992, the screen came out with a film called "Live."

Hindenburg

The best films about the plane crash began to appear on large screens in the middle of the twentieth century. For example, an American tape by Robert Wise called "Hindenburg." The picture was published in 1975. It tells the story of the crash of the same aircraft. The ruling nazi elite wanted to have a huge airship, which would be a symbol of the endless power of Germany. In 1937, an aircraft carrier under the command of Max Pruss sent a long journey from the Old to the New World. Nobody even suspected that on board the airship there was a saboteur who had set himself the goal of destroying the German heritage.
Of course, there are few people in the world who remain indifferent to the tragedy, whether it is an earthquake in Japan, an explosion of a nuclear power plant in Chernobyl, or the release of oil into the open ocean. Against the background of those or other events, many filmmakers and screenwriters create exciting films about the plane crash. Artistic tapes, unlike documentaries, contain a lot of fictional events. However, this in no way detracts from the dignity of this or that masterpiece.

The death of the Titanic and the tragedy of Thailand

Many of the tragedies that occurred (tsunamis, earthquakes, atomic explosions and others) were embodied on the screen in the creations of eminent directors. It is worth remembering the infamous "Titanic". In no way did the artistic processing distort the whole essence of the documentary narrative. Plausible details and a sincere live performance of the actors without a doubt allow us to call this film a masterpiece of the twentieth century.

In 2004, a terrible tsunami hit the coastline of Thailand, which caused the death of a huge number of people. Approximately 300 thousand tourists and local residents were buried alive under the weight of waves of murderers. This worldwide tragedy formed the basis of many works, including in the film industry. The Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona in his film called "Impossible" tried to recreate what happened on that terrible December day tragedy. And he managed to do it with brilliance. Survive yourself or save loved ones - this difficult choice falls on the share of many people caught in an extreme situation.
