Mop with microfiber for cleaning the room

Washing the sexes - the task is hardly the most beloved. But progress does not stand still, and new inventions come to help in cleaning. Mop for floor with microfiber is designed to facilitate the process of washing the floors and at the same time save the family budget. How she succeeds and why old rags have long been thrown away - read on.

What is microfiber

This is a synthetic fabric, consisting of polymer fibers (polyamide and polyester), which undergo the appropriate treatment in order to have the desired properties. After all, a variety of items are made from microfiber.

We all know that synthetics do not absorb water well. But if in the process of making the canvas to split its fibers into the finest threads (16 times thinner than the human hair), then the fabric will have excellent absorbing properties. This will happen due to the fact that it has found a porous structure: the surface volume at the same area has increased significantly. For the same reason, the microfiber dries quickly: the moisture does not soak into its fibers, but lingers between them. It is used for sportswear that perfectly absorbs sweat and remains dry, bed linen, cleaning products, etc. If the fibers are not subjected to splitting, then such a fabric will repel moisture, waterproof things are sewn from it.

Rags for cleaning from microfiber usually consist of 80% of polyester and 20% of polyamide. Due to the fineness of the fibers, there are thousands of micro-hooks per square centimeter of this unique cloth. They have a positive charge and attract dust with a negative charge, like a magnet. Therefore, rags made from microfiber often do not require the use of detergents. They are very durable - they can easily withstand up to 100 washes in a typewriter.

Mop components

Forget the primitive wooden T-stick with the rag wrapped around it. A useful invention is a modern mop with microfiber (the photo of the whole assembly is shown below).

It consists of:

  1. Handles are usually telescopic, with a variable length. It is made of plastic or stronger and durable (but also more expensive) aluminum.
  2. Frames for rags. It is also plastic or metal. The rag can be fastened to two wide stripes-Velcro or by means of clips. The frame is attached to the handle movably, it can be rotated around its axis and change the angle of inclination, which makes it easy to clean even hard-to-reach places.
  3. Nozzles made of microfiber.

The latter are of different types. For example, in the form:

  • In the form of a narrow long rectangle;
  • In the form of a small triangle;
  • In the form of a brush with cut strips of microfiber.

For the purpose of rags are only for dry or wet cleaning or suitable for both types of cleaning.

Depending on what surfaces they are best used, the nozzles are smooth, fluffy, covered with small loops or large villi, different in thickness and color.

Ready Solutions

If this is your first mop with a microfiber, then it's easier and cheaper to immediately buy a full set. It will include a handle, a frame and a rag that perfectly fit together. But before making a purchase, ask if all these parts are sold separately - in case one of them fails and needs to be replaced.

A squeegee made of microfiber with pressing will make cleaning easier. Features of its design depend on the type of nozzle. In models with a rectangular rag for these purposes, the frame consists of two parts, which are compressed by means of a lever on the handle. In variants with a nozzle in the form of a large brush, the system is more subtle. You will need a special bucket with a container for squeezing inside, into which you need to lower the squeegee and press on its handle. It will start to rotate, and you can remove excess moisture without even getting your hands wet. If the bucket is equipped with a pedal, then you can click on it, and not on the squeegee handle.

How does a mop with a microfiber make it easier to clean?

Here are the benefits you will get from using it:

  • You can do both wet and dry cleaning (which is especially important for expensive hardwood flooring).
  • Water does not drain from rags, as microfiber absorbs and keeps moisture perfectly.
  • The use of chemicals for cleaning can be significantly reduced (and this is not only a concern for the family budget, but also a reduction in environmental pollution).
  • A mop with a microfiber does not leave a nap and a divorce.
  • It is light and manoeuvrable thanks to the rotating nozzle.

Benefit for health

It would seem, how can a mop with a microfiber improve your well-being? It turns out that this is really true, and it is not assertions of manufacturers that assert this.

In the past 15 years, US health agencies have launched programs to change cleaning methods, namely the replacement of conventional mops with a nozzle in the form of a loop of thick cotton threads on mops with microfiber nozzles. Here are the arguments they lead in their favor:

  • Since a mop with a microfiber requires much less moisture, it is light and does not take a lot of effort to clean (compared to moving around the floor of a heavy wet cloth and constantly reapplying it repeatedly). General fatigue, back and neck pain, trauma and illness caused by monotonous movements are reduced.
  • A microfibre cloth does not need to be wrung out and squeezed, applying force, so do not suffer hands, wrists, fingers.
  • After such cleaning, the floor is only slightly moistened and dries quickly, less likely to slip and fall.
  • Reducing the use of detergents is also beneficial for health, because many of them irritate mucous membranes, upper respiratory tract, skin. In addition, you do not need to carry a heavy bucket of water and detergent, a small bottle with a sprayer. A mop with a microfiber makes cleaning quicker, easier and more efficient, which was noted by both technical workers and doctors, patients.

How to use a mop with a microfiber

It would seem that there is complicated. But there are some subtleties that should be learned in advance. So, the sequence of work is this:

  1. Attach the cloth from the microfiber to the mop. Usually it is inserted into special grooves on the frame or fastened with a "Velcro".
  2. Lower the rag into water or apply a very small amount of cleaning solution if you need to do a wet cleaning. Do not use aggressive detergents, they can damage microfibre fibers. To collect dust, pet hair, crumbs will be enough to hold a dry rag on the floor. Soak the nozzle if you want to remove dirty traces, spilled liquid, stains.
  3. If you overdo it with water, lightly wring out the rag, it should be slightly damp.
  4. Now you can proceed directly to cleaning - move the mop on the floor to collect dirt. Add water or detergent solution as needed. Continue until the floor surface is completely cleared. Depending on the area to be treated, the mop with a microfibre cloth can become dirty, it will need to be cleaned.

For thrifty housewives

To ensure that the cleaning nozzle lasts a long time, do not forget to put it in order after the end of the work. Wash the microfiber under warm running water to remove dirt, or wash in a washing machine in warm (not hot!) Water. Never use bleach or fabric conditioner. The first will destroy the thin fibers, the second leaves a film on the fabric, which will worsen its characteristics.

Do not wash the nozzle with terry cloths and other products that leave fibers or pellets in the water. Otherwise, a duster made of microfiber will attract them to yourself and then leave traces on the surfaces that you clean. Allow it to dry well, but protect from excessive heat, because it is synthetics and at high temperatures it can melt.

Customer's opinion

Do you like the mop with a microfiber? The reviews are mostly positive. Since microfiber is not expensive material, but neat and very effective in cleaning, once using it, no one will return to the usual ragged rags, which are striving to slide at the most inopportune moment. Complaints from buyers cause except that the plastic parts of the product. Mistresses complain that mops are not strong enough, and telescopic models break at the junction of the pipes. The plastic in the places where the rag is fastened is also short-lived, because of which it is necessary to change the otherwise usable nozzle.

And also when choosing a squeegee with microfiber nozzles, check to see if it has protruding plastic parts that are not covered with a rag and can scratch the floor covering.

Is it worth saving?

If you decide to purchase products from microfiber, then for sure you will notice a wide range of prices. Than it is caused?

As always, responding to the growth in demand, China and Korea began to produce their household products from microfiber at low prices. But 70-75% of them use unsplit fibers. How so, you will be surprised, because such a fabric will not absorb moisture well and therefore is not suitable for cleaning. This is due to the fact that equipment for splitting fibers costs from $ 1 million, while machines just for the production of microfiber cost from $ 100,000. Therefore, only the largest manufacturers can produce a really high-quality product. So do not chase the cheapest offer.

In addition, the thickness of the fiber is important. In cheap Chinese products, it is much more than necessary, so the canvas is less attractive to dirt and moisture.

The cost of the mop itself will be affected by the material from which it is made and its quality.
