Mixture for leveling floors: types and features

Modern repair, high-quality and durable, it is difficult to imagine without a very even floor. No matter, laminate, natural wood or linoleum will be the finish coat. It is important to level the floor, make it smooth, horizontal, even. Facilitates this work a special mixture for leveling the sexes. There are compositions for any finish coat.

Basic views

In order for parquet, tile, laminate and all other floors to serve for a long time and reliably, so as not to create a gap, before laying the finish (decorative) coating, it is recommended to level the floors with the help of a building compound. The mixture for leveling floors can be only two types: cement and gypsum. Cement is suitable for all premises (dry or wet). Its thickness can not exceed 50 mm, so the cement levelers dry quickly. If you need a thicker leveling layer, you'll have to take a cast. Gypsum mixture for leveling the floors allows you to arrange a filler layer with a thickness of 100 mm. Gypsum is much cheaper than cement, however it dries longer. But its main drawback in the other: a plaster mixture for leveling the floor can only be used in absolutely dry rooms. The slightest humidity will begin to destroy the gypsum filler. Therefore, very often in houses with different levels of humidity in the premises choose different self-leveling pouches. In kitchens, bathrooms, toilets use cement, and in rooms - plaster mixture for leveling the floor.

Mixes for leveling the wooden floor

Gypsum or cement is only the basis of self-leveling compounds. Depending on the finish coat, special substances are added in them, which increase the adhesion of materials, for wooden floors special compositions are needed. Gypsum and cement are low-plastic materials, they do not "stick together" with the tree, and the water that these compounds are made of can damage wooden floors. Therefore, in the mixture for leveling the floors of wood, substances that increase adhesion are mandatory. This can be fiber, fibrous materials, etc. The longer the filler fiber, the more reliable the floor will be. However, if you plan to make a fill thicker than a centimeter, it will have to be reinforced with a reinforced mesh. The use of levelers allows you to simultaneously turn the floor almost into a mirror and warm it.

How to calculate the required amount of a mixture

When calculating the consumption of a mixture for floor leveling, consider:

• To increase adhesion, some of the mixture will have to be used for priming the substrate. Usually an average of a square meter takes up a quarter of a kilogram of the mixture.

• If you arrange a bulk floor in the thickness of a millimeter, you will need about half a kilogram of the finished mixture per meter. However, depending on the thickness of the floor and the condition of the substrate, the consumption may increase.

When constructing floors in the thickness of a millimeter, an average liter of mixture per square meter is needed. To calculate the final flow, you need to multiply the density (for example, 1.3) by the volume. In this example, the consumption of the mixture will be 1.3 kg.

Reduce costs will help polyurethane impregnation or special remains with a lot of quartz sand.
