Martini Rosso is a drink of notable ladies and James Bond

The history of winemaking goes back many centuries. Already in ancient times winemakers came up with recipes for alcoholic beverages, mixing different varieties of grapes, insisting it on herbs, expelled alcohol, which became the basis of hot drinks. The profession of the winemaker is akin to the profession of a perfumer: you can create a masterpiece that will conquer the hearts of millions. Over time, some recipes were forgotten, others became so popular that they were passed on from generation to generation, and on some superimposed "top secret".

Vermouth

Many recipes of nowadays popular spirits are rooted in ancient times. Vermouth is such a representative. The recipe for this wine was known for several centuries before our era. The basis of the drink is a red or white wine, infused with medicinal herbs. In some recipes, up to forty varieties of plants, spices and berries are used: mint, chamomile, melissa, coriander, cumin, etc. But the most important grass is wormwood. It is she who gives the wine an unforgettable intoxicating aroma and bitterness. Hippocrates attributed vermouth unprecedented healing properties. And it is vermouth inspired by the winemakers Alessandro Martini and Louis Rossi to create a drink that has been admired for over a hundred years.

Martini Rosso: how it all began

In 1863, the Italian Alessandro Martini founded a winery company. Together with his friend winemaker Louis Rossi, he conceived to create vermouth, but a softer taste, different from the classical one. The task was not an easy one: remaking wine, which is more than twenty-five centuries old, is a thankless task. But they took a chance and perfectly coped with the task. A new drink immediately fell into everyone's liking: caramel flavor, tender spicy aroma of herbs, a moderate fortress and a delightful amber-red color conquered many. This unusual vermouth was called martini. At present, the words vermouth and martini are synonymous.

Stars prefer Italian vermouth

Martini is a bohemian drink, perhaps thanks largely to advertising. And although martinis have always been popular, he made a huge advertisement to modern cinema: beautiful ladies and rich men always drink martini. Yes, and 007 agent James Bond preferred it. Despite the fact that martini is a brand, the production is laborious enough, and the recipe is classified, it has a fairly democratic price. Martini can afford almost everyone. This applies to Martini Rosso. And who tried it at least once, does not confuse with anything else. About Martini Rosso reviews admired leave not only women, but also men. Ladies prefer to drink this vermouth either in pure form, or diluted with orange or grapefruit juice. But men use it as an aperitif, mixing with vodka. Martini Rosso can be diluted with water if you want to lower the degree. By the way, the strength of this drink is 16%, despite this, he quickly intoxicates. Therefore, they do not drink it in one go - this is considered bad form. And to fully enjoy the subtle notes of taste, you must adhere to certain rules.

How and with what do martinis rosso drink

In order for the wine to fully reveal its taste, it must be cooled to 12 degrees. To do this, hold the bottle with a drink in the refrigerator for about half an hour. If it is too warm or cold, it will not reveal its bouquet. Undiluted Martini Rosso poured into low glasses of a square shape. And served with a straw, but you can and without it. Traditional glasses for this cone-shaped drink on a thin stalk are used, as a rule, for cocktails made on the basis of martini. Drink this drink in small sips, enjoying the taste. To martini Rosso serve salted crackers, mild hard cheeses or nuts. Many women prefer to eat this vermouth with strawberries, oranges or lemon. But the traditional snack, of course, is the olive on the skewer, lowered into a glass. Many prefer to drink cocktails with martini rosso, for example, the famous "Manhattan".
