Maine Coon: a big and kind domestic lynx

Probably, every owner of a cat or a cat at least once, yes called his pet "my domestic lynx." But probably not so much because the cat really looks like this animal, but because it has a unique ability to "trot" around the perimeter of the entire apartment, knocking down cacti from the windowsills and at the same time ripping the furniture off the wallpaper. Yes, cats - they are such, especially in their youth: their predatory inclinations sometimes exasperate, but we still forgive them. Is it possible not to forgive this insolent muzzle, which, pretending to be guilty, so penetratingly looks into your eyes and lovingly rubs your feet? And if this muzzle is three times more than the standard one?

It is the owners of such a chic "physiognomy", belonging to the Maine Coon breed, that are real domestic lynxes. This amazing breed, also known as the American raccoon, was bred over a hundred years ago. Breeders also counted on the fact that these cats will be very large, hardy and very beautiful. Domestic cat-lynx develops slowly enough. Her maturity comes only closer to 4-5 years. Males by this age can reach a weight of 15 kg, females - a little less. Maine Coon, despite its giant for the domestic cat size, very good nature and gentle. His temper is much softer than that of his smaller brother. The Maine Coon's voice is different from the usual cat's distinct, vibrant vibration. But the representatives of this breed meow me very rarely, only when necessary, giving a voice, short and tender.

The lynx house differs not only in its dimensions, but also in the shape of the head and body, in the texture of the wool. Her head is slightly extended, the cheekbones are high, and the profile - slightly curved. The ears are large, wide at the base, planted high and well pubescent. Special charm to this cat is given by characteristic brushes on the ears, quite like a real lynx. Her neck has an average length, the body itself is long, with a broad chest. The length of the tail is equal to the length of the body.

Most Maine Coon owners rightly believe that this domestic lynx is just an ideal animal: beautiful external data, no need for special care, wool, loyal character, funny habits ... Besides, these cats perfectly get along not only with people, but also with dogs, Ferrets and other domestic pets.

What do these miracle animals eat? Of course, from the master's table, the food does not suit them. In the Maine Coon diet should be a lot of protein, so it is preferable to give him meat. Raw is quite suitable (beef or chicken breast). But cooked can also be given, preferably adding vegetables and cereals to it in a 1: 2 ratio, of which two parts are meat. If your domestic lynx loves by-products such as liver, lungs, heart - they can also be given, but they must first be frozen in the freezer. After the products thaw, they are recommended to boil or at least scald with boiling water. In no case should you give cold or hot food: food for the cat should be at room temperature. Note that a cat that has a light color, with a constant use of the liver, the hair can turn yellow.

That your lovely domestic lynx has strong bones, give her calcium-containing foods. It can be a quality cottage cheese (it can be given once a week), fermented baked milk, yogurt, yogurt (a little more often). In small quantities, you can occasionally treat the cat with cheese. As for milk, in adults it is not very well absorbed and can cause frustration. Fresh water from the cat should always be. But you do not need to boil it, because if after boiling it will drink raw water, it can have problems with digestion. It is best to pour the usual filtered water.

Getting such a cat, you get a very affectionate, faithful, sociable, calm and loving friend, which will cause a storm of positive emotions and admiration from all who will see it once.
