Liquid wallpaper on the ceiling

Liquid wallpaper on the ceiling has a number of characteristics that distinguish them from the mass of other building materials used for finishing. First of all, we are talking about the extremely high level of their adhesion to the surface, which makes it possible to conceal minor defects that existed before the coating was applied, or to disguise those that appeared during operation.

Sometimes there is a need for repair, caused by a very slight damage to the surface, when there is no need to completely change it. In this case, liquid wallpaper for the ceiling can be removed only on the damaged area, mixed with water, adding a little new filler, and after six hours to put a spatula back to its original position.

In general, this type of finishing material, also called decorative plaster, is quite new. It consists of cellulose-paper fiber, decorative coloring additives and glue CMC. A variety of colors and textures provide a much greater scope for imagination than conventional wallpaper or plaster.

Liquid wallpaper: application

For the coating to be of high quality and durability, a certain application technology must be observed during the work.

First, the amount of material needed is determined. One package is enough for about 5 square meters of the surface to be coated. When calculating the final figure, it is desirable to round up to the larger side, setting a reserve for complex areas or loss of material into waste. It should be borne in mind that for the treatment of one surface, one should always choose the materials of one batch and one batch.

Next, the ceiling must be cleaned of the old coating (paint, putty) and check how smooth the surface has turned out. It should not have cracks, but it should not be perfectly smooth - for light roughness liquid wallpaper on the ceiling is applied in the best way.

If there are plate joints on the surface, they must be sealed with a sickle, cover PVA and vettonite. All metal parts (if any) are covered with alkyd enamel.

After that you can go to the primer. To do this, use enamel (at a rate of 250 grams per square meter), which is applied in two layers, after 12 hours. An hour after the last application of enamel, you can proceed to cover the ceiling with liquid wallpaper. Do it no later than a day later.

Liquid wallpaper on the ceiling must first be prepared. Pack with filler should be shaken several times to make it easier to mix the solution. In the dry mixture, warm water is added in parts, the solution is stirred until the lumps disappear completely. It will take 40-60 minutes for the mass to swell. It will be necessary to mix it periodically (4-5 times).

You can apply liquid wallpaper to the ceiling in two ways: by spraying (with a spray) and by smoothing (using a spatula). Both methods are equally reliable, the choice depends on which one is the most convenient for you. The applied solution is smoothed by a trowel, a foam rubber paint roller or a rubber roller. The thickness of the application layer depends on the structure of the plaster fibers. Some grades should be applied with a layer of 1.5-3mm, others - 4-5mm, so you need to pay attention to these instructions. For complete drying it will take about two days.

After 5-6 hours after application, the surface is treated with relief rollers, which are periodically wetted with water

Liquid wallpaper on the ceiling due to the characteristics of the material will have such qualities as moisture resistance and moderate moisture absorption. This material consists of natural components and is environmentally friendly, provides good heat and sound insulation, is antistatic and does not attract dust. Therefore it is very convenient to care: it is enough to wipe it occasionally with a damp cloth.
