Levitan's painting "March", written by love and sunlight

In 1860, a boy was born in the Lithuanian city of Kybartai, which later became a unique modernist artist of his kind. It was named Isaac, the name Levitan inherited from his father. At the age of 10, he moved with his family to Moscow, and since then no Russian spirit has left his canvas. That is why it is customary to consider him an exclusively Russian artist, despite the fact that he was born in another country and had Lithuanian roots. Isaak graduated from the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 1885 and for another five years exclusively painted landscapes in which there was an irreproachable love of nature - sometimes melancholy, sometimes hysterical, but always sincere and pure.

"March"

Levitan's painting "March" was written entirely from nature, without the use of etude strokes. She is considered one of the most famous paintings of the artist and holds a special place in the Tretyakov Gallery. The description of the painting Levitan "March" allows you to feel the mood of the master and most thoroughly analyze. At first glance it seems that there is nothing special on the canvas - a hut, a horse harnessed to a sleigh, and a forest whose trees cast their bluish shadow on melted snow. If you look at yourself for a moment and imagine yourself standing on the same wet snow, you can see a lot of small things, from which the great spirit of nature, painstakingly transferred by the author's love, is formed.

Description of the picture

Isaak Levitan's painting "March" in the literal sense of the word has Chekhov's detail - it does not depict anything superfluous. This is a small bright birdhouse waiting for the arrival of swifts, and a blinding blue sky, the radiance of which increases from the white snow, and the open doors of the wooden house embodying the coming of spring, and the wet earth making its way through a thin layer of snow, and the snow itself, which has long ceased To be white, it seems as if from the last forces it lingers on the surface of the earth under the power of the warm sun, which makes it seem heavy, and its shock on the roof of the porch is about to fall, unable to withstand the weight from the already melted water. Levitan's painting "March" was the first painting on which snow was so realistically and truly written. Surprisingly, Isaac before this work rarely wrote winter landscapes, giving preference to the warm seasons, when the blossoming nature reached its apogee.

Forest

Undoubtedly, loud discussions were caused by the work that Levitan wrote - "March", the description of the picture was always diverse, which spoke of its uniqueness, in each there was a special note of mood. However, at the mention of the picture, few people gave their attention to the forest depicted on it. This kind of symbolism was not before, which once again emphasizes the irreproachability of the talent. It is no accident that in the background the trees are darker, and closer to the center - light, thin, stretching towards the spring sun. Levitan's painting "March" encrypts behind the forest Cold and gloomy winter, deliberately taking it away, which indicates the onset of spring - fresh birch branches illuminated by the sun, on which the white birdhouse is firmly anchored, can serve as confirmation. The branches seem to merge with the sky, embodying the unity and power of nature.

Colors of the house

The picture of Levitan "March", as already mentioned above, is imbued with symbolism. First of all, it is reflected in the color scheme. If you look at a house whose walls are painted in a light tan color, you can judge the birth of a new life, since yellow is considered the color of the sun, the world and nature. The doors of the house are wide open, as if releasing a bored winter cold and meeting the arrival of spring. This suggests that not only nature but also the life of people comes to life, the bright warm colors of oil on the canvas represent the house as a clot of joy and coziness. Despite the fact that the house is not located in the center, and is located to the right of the central part, it is one of the main key fragments of the canvas.

Bird and Snow Color

The fact that the snow in the picture is special, has already been said above. His performance left behind a real school of skill for Russian artists. In the background, the snow is bluish, which again reflects the cold and winter, but in the foreground the snow is white, mixed with clay, which indicates not just the departure of one season, but also the merger of the two. If you carefully consider the picture, you can notice the same shades of the color of the snow in the foreground and the birdhouse on the tree. On the one hand, this is the disappearance of one, the interpretation of this can be seen in places where the snow merges with the earth, and on the other - the beginning of a new one, the new one that practically took the leading position in the form of a birdhouse merging with the sky. White color in this case is the color of the leading, ruling niche, and the spring takes a higher position than the outgoing winter.

History

There is no doubt in the genius of the canvas, which Isaac Levitan wrote - "March." The description of the picture is the best for this confirmation. After the canvas was published, many landscape painters tried to copy the technique and style of the author, thereby learning the skills of writing "cold nature." The picture became a kind of visiting card of Russian painting, which has not lost its relevance and aesthetic value. It is known that the author painted a picture in the period of acute love and who knows, maybe, it was this that contributed to the creation of a light and major canvas, imbued with pathos and sensuality.
