The material will please with an affordable price, in addition, a beginner master will work with him simply enough, since he is very obedient.

Primer

Before you put the tile on gypsum board, the latter must be primed first. Better even two times. But here, however, you need to read carefully the manufacturer's instructions. Some primers do not require reuse, so before using the solution, be sure to read first what is written on the package.

As for the types of primers, the experts recommend first of all to pay attention to the brands Mira 4120 and Tifengrund Knauf.

Mounting GKL

Before talking about how to lay tiles on gypsum board, you need to say a few words about the installation of the GKL. By and large, this procedure is similar to those conducted in other premises. And this is not the topic of our today's review. But for some nuances still need to pay attention.

And first of all it is worth bearing in mind that on your wall of plasterboard will be glued heavy ceramic tiles, and not, say, wallpaper, as if it were in a normal room. For this reason, the foundation must be very strong, capable of withstanding the weight of the tile. Therefore, when exposing the metal profile, try to do the distance between the slats at least 40 centimeters, which will provide additional strength to the frame.

Works with tiles

By and large, tiles on plasterboard in the bathroom are laid exactly the same as on the plastered surface. The difference is not special. Except, perhaps, the fact that the work will be much easier, since the foundation is almost perfectly smooth.

You should start from the most prominent angle and from the bottom. At the height of the second row, using the (mandatory condition!) Level to the plasterboard screw the bar. The remains of the metal profile can be used as it. Laying starts from this support bar. Then they spread the glue. It is not necessary to do much. Expect so that one portion is enough for two square meters, not more. Especially if you are new to this business. After all, you can linger or get stuck at some stage, as a result of which the solution will simply dry up. And this - unnecessary costs, since it is impossible to re-dilute it with water in any case.

Glue must be applied with a thin layer, and leveled with a specially designed spatula with denticles.

On each tile, try to apply the same amount of glue, so that the tile would lie flat on the gypsum board, just like the previous tiles. If overdone, carefully squeeze out the excess and remove the glue with a damp cloth. Between the seams, make sure the crosses are made so that the gaps are the same.

Be sure to check the level in the process of how level your tile is. Each, of course, to control to anything, nevertheless try to do it as often as possible.

For one approach it is not recommended to stack more than five rows. After this, you need to take a short break. You can not immediately load the gypsum board base, you need to give it time to adapt a little to a fairly large weight, created by tile together with tile glue.

Once the lined areas dry, remove the crosses, and clean the tiles with rags. Tile glue is very poorly removed from the surface of the lining after complete drying. So then it will be quite difficult to cope with it, especially if your tile is not glossy smooth, but rippled.

Grout

Jointing should be carried out not less than a day after the end of work. We need to wait a little while the glue finally seizes. Well, then, using a special rubber spatula, you need to carefully seal all the seams with a trowel. The latter is better to take with antibacterial fillers, so that the fugue does not accumulate mold during the operation of the bathroom.

And finally summarize all the information. Remember: drywall under the tile in the bathroom must be necessarily moisture resistant (the sheets have, as a rule, green color). Do not use wooden beams when mounting the frame, only metal guides should be used. Bathroom tile is not a material to save. Buy only quality tiles. Use in the process of work well-proven adhesive ("Eunice", for example). During the cladding, after laying the five rows, take a break. Give rest to your hands, and gypsum cardboard - "get used to" the load.
