Is the facade thermal insulation a necessity or a whim?

Now more attention is paid to the preservation of heat in homes. This is especially true for areas where the winter is cold. To protect your home and keep the heat inside, it is better to think in advance all the ways. The thermal insulation of the facade occupies a special place in this list, because up to 40% of the heat can escape through the walls. Even if you installed windows with double-glazed windows, but at the same time did not insulate the walls, it is unlikely that you will get a high temperature in the room. This is particularly noticeable in corner apartments, where the number of street walls is greater.

You can protect the walls from inside or outside. Internal protection has its advantages. It is easier to perform, since there is free access to the walls. But the thermal insulation of the facade from the inside also has its drawbacks. First of all, it reduces the area of the room. In addition, the dew point, that is the place where a warm and cold temperature occurs, is located inside the room, which means that dampness and mold may appear. And this is a completely undesirable option for a dwelling.

It is more difficult to insulate the facades of buildings from the outside, but it has its advantages. There are several systems of facade insulation. The use of plaster solves two problems at once, allows you to insulate and make the exterior decoration of the wall. When using a light plaster system for stiffness, use a glass grate, since the thickness of the plaster layer does not exceed 9 mm. This method can be used for walls made of any material. But it is not very suitable for areas with low temperatures.

If the layer of plaster reaches 40 mm, then they say about the heavy method of plaster thermal insulation. But here special fasteners are needed to fix this layer. For heat, you can use any insulation. Thermal insulation of the facade with the use of plaster allows you to even out any irregularities in the wall and even give it a beautiful appearance. This can be solved in color, simply by painting the wall, or creating a relief structure using special tools.

In addition to wet methods, there are other options. The system of thermal insulation of facades with the use of vented technology assumes a clearance from the air between the outer lining and the wall. This is a more laborious method, but it has found its application thanks to the possibility to give the facade an elegant appearance. Warming can consist of one or two different layers. The dew point is located between the exterior trim and the wall, which means that there is no contact with cold air inside the room.

It is also possible to heat the facade with the use of laminated masonry. In this case, the wall is three-layered. First they erect a brick wall, then lay a heater and raise a second wall. Sometimes, instead of a brick for the inner surface, another material is used.

Any of the options for thermal insulation allows you to warm the walls of the house, keeping the maximum heat in the apartment. If you start building your home, it is better to think through options that are more suitable for your area, in advance. If you got a cold apartment, then try to insulate it in some accessible ways. When buying new housing, pay attention to how the walls are built, what methods of thermal insulation are used by the construction company.
