Laser vaporization of the cervix: a description of the procedure and indications

It is known that modern medicine does not stand still. Achievements are noted both in the field of diagnostics and in medical fields. This applies to surgical, gynecological, urological, ophthalmic and other procedures. Recently, a new method of treatment has been used: laser vaporization. It is widely used in various fields of medicine. Thanks to laser devices, prostate adenoma, cervical erosion and even a hernia between vertebrae can be removed. In addition, this technique is used in cosmetology and ophthalmic practice. The procedure has several advantages over surgical manipulations.

What is laser vaporization?

This method of treatment is based on laser radiation. Its effect causes necrosis (death) of cells, from which it is necessary to get rid of. Laser vaporization can be of 2 types:

  1. Contact. This method consists in evaporation of an unnecessary formation under the action of endoscopic apparatus.
  2. Innovative vaporization. It appeared relatively recently and only spread in highly specialized medical institutions. The method is based on the action of a green laser, which can penetrate to a different depth of tissues.

Vaporization has several advantages. First of all, this type of treatment does not threaten complications, unlike usual surgical operation. Most often, laser vaporization can be performed in an outpatient setting. The procedure refers to bloodless methods and takes less time than traditional manipulations.

Indications for laser vaporization of the cervix

As is known, cervical diseases are common among women of all ages. These include leuko- and erythroplasty, ectopia, endometriosis and other pathologies. Most often gynecologists face cervical erosion, which is observed in every second female. Unfortunately, despite the fact that these diseases do not manifest themselves in any way, they are not considered safe. In some cases, erosion passes into cervical cancer. To prevent this from happening, doctors recommend timely treatment of this ailment.

With true erosions, medication is possible. It can give a positive effect only in the early stages of the disease. In most cases, gynecologists discover pseudo-erosion - a violation of the integrity of the tissue, which has appeared for a long time. Currently laser vaporization of the cervix is performed. This method has made a breakthrough in gynecology, as it has been widely used. Under the action of laser radiation, it is possible to quickly and bloodlessly remove the eroded section. The procedure is performed in the gynecological office of the polyclinic and takes only 15-20 minutes.

At what diseases are the vaporization of the prostate

The main indication for laser vaporization in urological patients is prostatic adenoma. Unfortunately, many men after 40 years face this problem. The proliferation of glandular tissue affects badly the lifestyle of the patient. The most common symptoms of adenoma are problems with urination and sex life. In addition, the disease can be malignant - to take a malignant character. For the treatment of prostatic hyperplasia, laser vaporization of prostate adenoma is used . This procedure removes unwanted fabric. It is most often performed in a hospital. Nevertheless, recovery from vaporization of prostatic adenoma takes much less time compared to surgical intervention. Also the method is bloodless and endoscopic.

Preparation for laser vaporization

Like any intervention, laser treatment requires preparation. Regardless of the disease, the patient must undergo a complete examination before the procedure. Blood tests, urine tests, micro-reaction, determination of AT for HIV infection are performed. With erosion of the cervix, a gynecological examination is necessary , in some cases - colposcopy. Before performing a vaporization of the prostate adenoma, ultrasound of the prostate gland and ECG is performed. If the patient takes anticoagulants, then on the eve of the operation they must be canceled.

Laser vaporization of the cervix requires the following preparation: sanitation of the cervical canal and vagina, absence of sexual contacts one week before the intervention. It is usually performed in the first half of the menstrual cycle (on the 7th-10th day).

Before the vaporization of the prostate adenoma, a cleansing enema is put. On the day of surgery, a hunger regime is prescribed.

The technique of laser vaporization

Carrying out laser vaporization of the cervix is as follows: treatment of the operating field with Lugol's solution, introduction of the colposcope. After the exact location of the erosion, the instrument must be set up. Typically, the following parameters are noted: the power is 25 W, the diameter of the laser beam is 2.5 mm. The depth depends on the size and thickness of the eroded surface.

Vaporization of the prostate adenoma is also performed by the endoscopic method. A laser device and a light source are inserted into the urethra (urethra). After this, determine the size and thickness of the adenoma and adjust the device. When excess tissue is removed, a urinary catheter is inserted.

Restoration of the body after vaporization

After laser vaporization, the patient is quickly restored. This is especially true for gynecological procedures. During the first month after vaporization of the cervix, bleeding may be observed. This is considered the norm. During this period, it is necessary to abandon sexual contacts and the use of tampons. Control colposcopy is performed after 2 months.

After vaporization of prostatic adenoma, infection prevention is necessary. For this purpose, antibiotics of a wide spectrum (preparations "Cefazolin", "Penicillin") are used. The catheter is removed when the function of the bladder is fully restored (usually after a few hours). You can eat only the day after the operation.

Laser vaporization: reviews of patients and doctors

Feedback on the procedure is in most cases positive. Patients remain satisfied with the results of the operation and the absence of complications. Most patients claim that the procedure completely restores the functions of the body (prostate). Doctors say that laser vaporization significantly reduced the risk of postoperative complications, thereby increasing the patients' appeal for help. The advantages of this method are noted by surgeons of all directions, who apply this method in their practice.
