Interactive methods of study at the university

Interactive methods of teaching are one of the most important means of improving the professional training of students in higher education. The teacher now is not enough to be simply competent in the field of his discipline, giving theoretical knowledge in the classroom. It is necessary to approach the modern educational process in a slightly different way.

The results of most studies have confirmed that the use of interactive methods is the most effective way of learning, which will promote the optimal assimilation of the new and consolidate the old material. Students are easier to understand, understand and remember what they could learn if they become subjects of the learning process. On this basis, methodological developments in any discipline must necessarily include interactive teaching methods. Thanks to this, all students will be included in the educational process, without exception.

Interactive methods of teaching at the university mean a constant interaction, the participants of which are in the mode of continuous dialogue, conversation. They are focused on the relationship of students with both teachers and with each other. And the dominant position should be occupied by students, the role of the teacher is reduced to the direction of their work to achieve the main goals of this lesson.

Interactive methods of teaching will help to solve the following problems:

  • Formation of students' interest in discipline;
  • Optimal assimilation of working material;
  • Development of intellectual independence, because students need to individually look for ways and options for solving the problem;
  • Training in teamwork, tolerance of someone else's point of view;
  • Learning to respect the right of everyone to their own opinion, their dignity;
  • Establishing interaction between students;
  • The formation of students' opinions, attitudes, professional and life skills.

Leading interactive teaching methods are as follows:

  • A round table (debates and discussions);
  • Brainstorming (brainstorming , brainstorm);
  • Role-playing and business games;
  • Study (analysis of certain situations);
  • Master Class.

Interactive methods should be implemented taking into account a number of principles.

The first law. Lesson is not a lecture, but a common work.

Second law. All participants must be equal regardless of their social status, age, place of work and experience.

The Third Law. Students and teachers have the right to have and express their opinions absolutely on any issue.

The Fourth Law. In the classroom there should be no place for direct criticism of the person. Comment can only be an idea.

The Fifth Law. All that was said in the lessons is not a guide to action, but is information for reflection.

Methods of interactive learning should include a specific algorithm for conducting.

At the stage of preparation for the lesson, it is recommended that the teacher carefully consider the possible scenarios for the development of events. For this purpose, additional material is being prepared. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the age of students, the time frame of the session, the features of the topic and so on.

The lesson should begin with an introduction, during which participants are given information about its goals, basic rules and laws.

The main part is recommended to include no more than two tasks. And the first will serve to warm up. The main exercise should be thought through very carefully, so that it optimally solves the goals and objectives set in the lesson .

The conclusion is recommended in the form of reflection, so that each student can realize that he has learned new, what skills he has developed.
