Icon "Healer" of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Did you hear that Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin do miracles of healing to this day? How? The answer is pretty simple. Through their Holy Faces, and the multitude of people who got rid of them from the exhausted diseases for many years, this is confirmed. An example of these miraculous healings is the icon "Healer", which granted the salvation of life and helped seriously ill people for hundreds of years. Our article will be devoted to this priceless icon, which contains positive energy and an infinite celestial trend.

Time of writing the icon

The icon of the Blessed Virgin "The healer" is one of the oldest and holiest Holy Faces. It was written during the time of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Nina, who at that time was the educator of Georgia, in the IV century. The "Healer" was kept and revered in the Tselikhan temple in Kartalinia, where people came who lost hope of recovery.

Unfortunately, the true image of the icon of the IV century could not be saved, because it was already a long time. Therefore, it is rather difficult to say what was depicted on the Georgian original. Perhaps, it was represented by the Mother of God, which bent over the sick person, in any case, no one will be able to tell about it. But up to now, one of the miraculous Faces of the Theotokos "Healer" came to us, which only in the end of the XVIII became famous in Russia. We will tell you the history of its origin below.

A Brief History of Wonderworking Icon Writing

This truly sacred event occurred in Moscow in the late 18th century. At that time, there lived a certain clergyman named Vikenty Bulveninskiy. This man had an unusual habit that characterized him as a believer and truly devoted to St. Mary's man. So, as soon as he went to church or left it, he immediately fell to his knees before the image of the Holy Virgin and said the same words: "Rejoice, Marie! The Lord is with thee! Blessed is your belly that bore Christ, and the breasts that nourished Him, our Savior! "

After a while Vikentia overcame the deathly ailment, from which his tongue turned black, and the pains were so strong that they drove him crazy. As soon as the clergyman came to himself, he immediately began to read a prayer to the Holy Virgin and the Lord, without a second asking them for healing. One day, after Vikenty again came to his senses after another bout of pain, he began to pray to the Theotokos and noticed the silhouette standing at the head of his bed, which was very much like the heavenly angel. Together with Vikenty, the Coming One began to pray and cry out to the Mother of God. After this happened an inexplicable miracle - the Blessed Virgin, completely surrounded by light, came to them and healed Vikenty.

Being completely healthy, the man went to church, fell to his knees and began to pray. The people around him did not believe their eyes, because Vikentia foreshadowed a painful death. "How did this happen?" - people asked him. The man told them the whole truth, then moved all the others to pray and thank the Blessed Virgin for giving them the opportunity to exist and walk in the land of the Lord.

This miraculous healing and served as an occasion for writing the icon "Healer", copies of which are still painted in almost all hospital temples and chapels.

This story was described in a book called "Runo Irrigated," which was written by Saint Dmitry of Rostov.

Where is the Holy Face at the moment?

Icon "Healer" only in the 18th century was glorified in Russia. Every day thousands of Christians came to call on her to help and just pray. And in the most difficult situations, people who addressed her with a request for recovery, were healed.

First, the icon "Healer" was stored in Moscow on the territory of the Alekseevsky Convent. At the time of Napoleon's invasion, enemy grenadiers destroyed the monastery. Almost all the buildings, except the cathedral church, were burnt. All church property, including icons, was buried underground. Over the pits Saint Magdalene set the bed with the sick. The invaders were afraid to approach them, afraid to get infected, so all the holy things survived. After the enemies left Moscow, the monastery quickly recovered.

In the nineteenth century, in the 1930s, it was decided to erect a Christ the Savior Cathedral on this site . In this regard, the monastery had to be moved to another place in Krasnoye Selo (Verkhnaya Krasnoselskaya Street). In 1926, when all the churches were ruined by the Bolsheviks, Novo-Alekseevsky Monastery also fell under the demolition, so the icon "The Healer" was moved to the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, which is located in Sokolniki. The Holy Face is still there.

The healing power of the icons of the Virgin

An example of recovery from a miraculous icon was the case that occurred in 1962. One girl, the daughter of a priest, has fallen from an incurable spinal cord illness. But, without losing hope, she, along with her father, prayed to the Holy Face and, finally, received healing.

How does the icon look like?

Icon of the Theotokos "Healer" has many analogues. But, despite the written copies, the Faces of St. Mary still have a healing power. The original depicts the luminous Mother of God standing in front of the bed of the sick Vikenty.

In 1889, I. Tomakov described the appearance of St. Lika in his book "The Archaeological and Historical Description of the Alekseevsky Monastery." On the alignments of the icon God's Archangels are represented, who seem to support it. On the right - Gabriel, on the left - Michael. The size is small, about 32 cm high, and 27 cm wide. It is placed in a silver fold, decorated with gold and enamel ornaments. There are a lot of diamonds and other equally beautiful stones on the vest. The robe of the Virgin is covered with white pearls. The icon itself is inserted in the stone pillar that supports the cathedral. Before it, on both sides, stone steps were built, and 9 Lombard lights burned in front of Lika.

Icon "Healer". What helps?

It has long been customary to think that it is of no particular importance what kind of icon to pray to, especially if it comes from a pure heart and with good intentions, because we do not lift the icon itself, but the one who is represented on it.

There is a huge number of cases when the Virgin herself appeared in a dream to the sick person and directed him to that icon, before the face of which one should pray. Walking on her instructions immediately healed.

As mentioned above, many faces were created in honor of the Mother of God, but the miracles that created the icon "Healer", the prayer before which helped many hopelessly sick, did not succumb to any logic. Those who pray before the Holy Face most often want to be healed of desperate illnesses, ask for quick and painless births, punish the offender, and pray for the possibility of breastfeeding the baby.

The history of the temple dedicated to St. Lika

The temple of the icon "Healer" was erected in 1922 at the Research Institute of Clinical Psychiatry on the Kashirskoye Highway in Moscow. The premise for the temple was built in the 80s of the XX century, which was originally planned for the needs of the scientific research institute. Funds for the construction were collected by the staff and management of the Institute itself. People who are in the hardest circumstances of life can come and pray at any time to the Holy Mother of God.

How to pray to St. Mary to receive healing?

The Icon of the Blessed Virgin "Healer" helped many hopelessly ill people to recover, but not all could be heard. What is the reason for this? Come on, we'll figure it out.

  1. If you or your loved one have a serious illness, then you need a long course of prayers, from 40 days, for mild illnesses - from 3 to 27.
  2. Read not as outsiders tell you, but as your heart tells.
  3. If you are overcome by laziness when reading the prayer, then the illness in question resists, therefore, pull yourself together and keep crying for help. This is a very important point.
  4. Prayer will be effective if you follow the phrases and words that you read, think about the person you are reading, and also try to understand the meaning of what is read.
  5. Do not pray less than once a month or a week, it definitely will not help. Call to the Theotokos every day.
  6. Read the prayers for at least 15 minutes, otherwise there is a chance that you will not be heard.
  7. Observe spiritual and bodily posts.
  8. After reading the prayer, be sure to thank the Mother of God.

As mentioned earlier, the icon Celitenica saved many lives. The main thing is, at a difficult moment for you, do not lose faith in God and in any case do not lose heart. Pray, cry, hope, and you will surely be heard, for it is not for nothing that Jesus Christ always said that treating the sick is the most important duty of mankind.
