Hydrocortisone: instructions for use, description, dosage

What is Hydrocortisone?

Intravenously for adults, the dose is 100-500 ml per day. Intramuscularly, adults are prescribed 125-200 mg / day, children - 15-30 mg / day. Internally, adults are prescribed 3 to 50 mg, children depending on the age, from 25 to 75 mg. Ointment is applied up to 4 times a day, applying a thin layer on the skin. Suspension: osteoarthritis (posttraumatic), tendosinvitis (nonspecific), arthritis (rheumatoid), epicondylitis, bursitis (acute or subacute), synovitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, as well as lupus erythematosus, dermatitis (atopic), granuloma (ring-shaped), lichen, Toxidermy;
- tablets, powder for suspensions, "Hydrocortisone" solution: disorders in the endocrine system (hypercalcemia), crisis (thyrotoxic), adrenal insufficiency, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, acute allergies, collagenosis. And also skin diseases, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, tuberculous meningitis, trichinosis, sclerosis (diffuse), poisoning and bites.
Contraindications to taking the drug "Hydrocortisone"
The drug is not recommended for children under the age of two.
Do not take the drug at high sensitivity to its components. If there are lesions of the skin or ocular epithelium in the form of cracks, ulcers, wounds, medication is not prescribed. Fungal, viral or bacterial lesions of the skin or eyes are also considered a contraindication. Acne, dermatitis around the mouth, arterial hypertension in severe forms, peptic ulcers, osteoporosis, diverticulitis, endocarditis (acute), nephritis, fever (herpetic), AIDS or HIV infection, postoperative period - all are listed by the manufacturer as Obstacles to the use of funds. During pregnancy and lactation, the intake of "Hydrocortisone" is contraindicated.
Side effects of the drug
Endocrine system: hyperglycemia, dysmenorrhea, obesity (hormonal), atrophy of the cortical layer of the adrenal glands, hirsutism, hypophyseal-adrenal insufficiency. Possible growth retardation in children.
Musculoskeletal: osteoporosis, necrosis (aseptic), arthropathy, myopathy (steroid), arthralgia.
Gastrointestinal tract: perforation of the intestines, bleeding (gastric), pancreatitis, peptic ulcer , esophagitis, dyspepsia.
Allergies are possible, changes in the color of the skin, prolonged healing of wounds. Mental disturbance, cataract (subcapsular), glaucoma, increased intracranial pressure.
