How to make "Twister" with your own hands

"Twister" is one of the most popular games in the United States. Everyone plays it, from children to adults, and everywhere - on children's matinees, parties, picnics or just during gatherings with friends ... We offer you to learn how to make the game "Twister" with your own hands.

History

Fans of the game "Twister" should thank for its creation two American inventors - Twister Charles F. Foley and Neil V. Rabens.

It is difficult to imagine, but in the first years of its existence, entertainment was not very popular. And all because of the wrong marketing move. Instead of promoting the product among young people (whom this game as-can not be better suited), the management somehow decided that their potential customers should be average American mummies at the age of about 35 years.

Fun would be lost on the shelves of toy stores, if not for his majesty the case. The presenter of the very popular TV show Tonight Show, Johnny Carson, May 3, 1966, offered to play "Twister" invited star - Eva Gabor. And while the actress in her evening dress elegantly moved around the playing field, most of the audience already rushed to ring up shops and make out an order for the purchase of "Twister". After this significant day during the year, more than three million copies of the game were sold.

To date, "Twister" is still popular, both in his native America, and in other countries. And all rights belong to the company Hasbro.

Description of the game

The game "Twister" consists of a large playing field (mat), which decomposes on the floor, and roulettes.

The size of the mat is 150 x 180 centimeters. It is an oilcloth or sheet, on which are drawn large circles of green, red, blue and yellow in four rows.

Roulette is like a watch, only the arrows do not move by themselves, but rotate by the players. "Dial" is divided into four segments, which are also divided by color.

Rules of the game

The playing field is laid out on level ground. In addition to the players themselves, there must also be a presenter who will spin the roulette table. The number of participants is unlimited. Just if a lot of people, share on the team.

Game process:

  1. Participants either become around the playing field, or occupy cells.
  2. The presenter twists the roulette, then selects the player and tells him the fallen combination of body and color (for example, the right foot and red). This means that the competitor must stand on any red circle with his right foot.
  3. After each turn, the leader twists the roulette and calls the fallen combination to the next player.
  4. If a participant has a combination that he already occupies, then he must still make a move.
  5. One and the same circle can not be occupied by two players and body parts.
  6. If during the game the circles of any color are completely occupied, the presenter continues to twist the roulette until the free color drops out.
  7. Prior to the announcement of a new combination, the player is not allowed to remove his hand or foot from the field.
  8. If a player falls or touches the knee or elbow of the playing field, then he is eliminated from the game.
  9. The victory goes to the one who could last longer on the playing field.

How to make "Twister" with your own hands?

Of course, you can buy a ready game. But it's much nicer to make it yourself. And if you involve children in the process of creating children? Delight will not be the limit, believe me! Even if you do not know how to make "Twister" with your own hands, do not worry. There is nothing complicated. The main thing is desire, imagination and the availability of at least some materials.

So, you will need:

1. For the playing field:

  • Oilcloth, sheet, piece of white cloth, Whatman - for the base;
  • Paint on the fabric, the cloth itself, paper - for circles of blue, red, green and yellow.

2. For roulette:

  • Plate, board, cardboard - for the base;
  • Markers, paints, colored paper, pencils - to fill sectors;
  • Arrow, pencil, wand - for the index.

3. Additional tools:

  • scissors;
  • Brushes;
  • Needle and thread;
  • glue.

How to make a game board?

Regardless of what the game "Twister" is made with your own hands (from fabric, paper or cardboard), the standard playing field should be 150 x 180 cm.

After the base is ready, proceed to create six circles. You can:

  • Cut out of fabric, then sewed or glued with a special glue to the base;
  • Paint;
  • Cut out of paper and paste to the substrate.

In the standard game there is a certain order of filling the playing field with circles:

  • 1 row - red;
  • 2 row - blue;
  • 3 row - yellow;
  • 4 row - green.

You can at your discretion scatter the circles in a chaotic order. So it will be even more interesting. The main thing is to observe the proportion - 6 circles of 4 colors.

How to do roulette?

We offer you two templates of roulettes for creating the game "Twister" with your own hands.

The first is classical, in the form of a square or circle. Such a roulette is easiest to do as follows:

1. Take a thick cardboard or a thin board. It is possible to paint in any color at will.

2. Make sectors: draw paints, markers, pencils or cut and paste individual pieces from paper.

3. Make a rotating pointer in the center of the roulette wheel:

  • Take a stick (for example, from ice cream), make a small hole in it in the middle, attach it to the board with a bolt and nut;
  • Cut an arrow from a cardboard box and attach a small stud to the dial;
  • Just put a pencil in the middle of the tape measure.

Segments should be as follows:

  • Left foot: marks (circles or squares) of red, green, yellow and blue;
  • Left hand: marks of red, green, yellow and blue;
  • Right foot: marks of red, green, yellow and blue;
  • Right hand: marks of red, blue, yellow and green.

An example is shown in the picture.

The second version of roulette

From the innovations could not resist and the game "Twister". Make your own hands original fun is not so difficult. For example, you can take dice as an alternative to roulette .

You will need to make two cubes - one with a color, the other with a body part designation . Their feature is that the number of sides will be four, not six, as in dice.

Therefore, we suggest you make cubes resembling a brick in shape (as indicated in the picture).

There are two options for creating dice.

First:

  1. Cut out two identical cubes from the cardboard, then gently glue them together.
  2. Wait until the glue dries.
  3. Take one cube and on long sides glue or draw pictures themselves, pointing to the body parts: the left foot, the right foot, the left hand, the right hand.
  4. Take another cube and either paint over long sides, or glue them with colored paper in the appropriate colors: red, blue, green and yellow.

The second option:

  1. Do on the computer two layouts: one with the color, the other - the body parts.
  2. Print both options.
  3. Glue the layouts into cubes.

The game is ready. To ensure that your "Twister" is not damaged or lost, select a special box under it.
