Heating the windshield will significantly increase the comfort of using the car in the winter

All motorists are familiar with the situation: on a winter morning the windshield is covered with hoarfrost, ice crust or a layer of snow. The precious time is spent cleaning it and bringing it to the divine state. Part of the problem is solved using a heater. But heating the windshield in this way is a fairly long process, and not entirely safe: in the presence of even minimal chips, a sharp temperature drop causes the formation of a crack.

To improve the comfort of using the car in winter time, windshields with electric heating have been developed. For the first time they appeared in 2000 on new Ford models, since 2009 the production of glasses with built-in heating system of Russian production has been launched. Heating windshield with electricity can be of two types: only in the lower part (where wipers are usually located) or completely throughout the area. The presence of partial heating reduces the defrosting time by five minutes, which is an important factor for some motorists, while others prefer not to overpay for such a slight improvement.

Heated windshields throughout the area greatly improve the comfort of management in winter. The heating of the windshield in the Russian version differs from the imported analogs using a two-circuit scheme. When the option is turned on, the driver's side thaws first for 5 minutes, after which the contour on the passenger side automatically turns on. If you find that the glass is clean in your area, and the time has not yet come, switch to the passenger side of the windshield heating by pressing the appropriate button. And everything would be fine, but there is also a negative moment: the fragility of the system. Wires used for heating are very thin, there is a high probability of damaging them when even minor chips occur. And to restore the efficiency of heating can only complete replacement of glass.

The equipment of cars was attended not only by motorists, but also by the leading automakers in Russia: since 2011, VAZ produces most luxury models with electric heating (about 60%).
