Polishing the car with your own hands. Abrasive and protective polishing with their own hands.
If over the years the car lost its factory luster, the paint lost its former juiciness, and the body was covered with a lot of small scratches - which means it's time to polish the bodywork. Most repair and paint shops offer this service. However, with due diligence and responsibility of the approach, polishing the car body can be done independently.
There are two types of car paint polishing: abrasive and protective. Briefly describe each of the types of work and determine which one suits your car. Protective polishing work is the application of a protective layer of polishing paste on the car body . Polishing of the body with your own hands can be carried out with Teflon or wax paste. The technology of this work is simple and described on the packaging, but there are some useful tips.
Polishing the body of the car with their own hands is carried out both manually and with the help of special polishing machines. Do not work under direct sunlight and drafts. Polishing the car with your own hands is carried out only after thorough washing and drying of the body. Polishing paste should be applied in a subtle manner, so polishing the body should take place in several stages. 3-4 minutes after the application of the paste, place it in a circular motion until a deep luster and disappearance of the traces of the substance from the body. However, protective polishes have a significant disadvantage - they are washed out over time and the procedure has to be repeated. In this case, Teflon pastes stay on the car body longer.
The second and more important polishing method is abrasive. Polishing the car with your own hands with abrasive pastes eventually gives a lasting result, the lifetime of the paintwork will depend only on the conditions of the car's operation. The complex of works on this kind of polishing of the body is divided into two stages - polishing LKP fine abrasive skins to remove the oxide layer from the body elements, paint on varnish and directly polished.
At the stage of grinding the car, waterproof paper with a graininess of 2000 and above is used. Pre-it must be soaked in water to give it more elasticity. As well as before the protective polishing, the car body is thoroughly washed, put in the appropriate room and proceeds to grinding. The treatment is only subjected to problematic areas where there are significant scratches and risks. Grinding is carried out until a smooth matte surface on the body is obtained. If, after drying the car, risks are noticeable, then in these places it is necessary to repeat the work.
After the final grinding, go to polishing the car. At this stage, abrasive pastes and a polishing machine are used. The paste is applied to the part by small slides, after which it is stretched over the element by the machine at a low speed. Then the revolutions can be increased and go to polishing. After completion of work, the body is additionally polished with finishing pastes and acquires a deep and juicy color.
It is not wise to advise certain manufacturers of polishing pastes, however, they should not be saved. Higher quality pastes are guaranteed to provide the best result, and polishing the car with your own hands will become easier and more efficient. Also it is worth noting that the protective polishing does not reduce the thickness of the paint and varnish layer on the car, do not last long. Abrasive polishing of the car with its own hands is durable, but it reduces the thickness of the paint coating, so it is not recommended to do this kind of polishing 3-5 times on the car.
