Heating system VAZ-2114: description, features and malfunctions

How does it work

That is, heat exchange takes place - hot antifreeze cools not only in the main radiator (which stands in front of the engine and is presented in the photo below), but also in the heat exchanger of the heating system. Of course, the temperature of the engine is significantly reduced. Therefore, in severe frost motorists close the cavity of the honeycomb of the main radiator, so that the motor is not very cold. The most optimal mode of its operation is 80-90 degrees Celsius. When you turn on the stove, this figure falls immediately by 10-15 percent. It is not possible to adjust the temperature

Often the owners of domestic cars (including VAZ-2114) are faced with the impossibility of setting the air temperature on the control unit. The oven blows equally hot or cold, regardless of the position of the main SAUO lever (in the photo below it is located in the center). In this case, the specialists state the malfunction of the dampers or malfunctions in the operation of the control unit itself. A temperature sensor is also diagnosed. It is located next to the ceiling light control ceiling. Turn the lever several times. Air heating should change tactilely. If the temperature changes only at the extreme position of the sensor, the element must be replaced.

The oven blows cold

Damper and temperature regulators are extremely rare. Therefore, if the stove is blowing cold all the time, most likely, the gearmotor has failed. This element is presented in the photo below. All the gaps between the top and bottom of the panel are also glued to it. Next, you need to modify the flap of the stove, which directs the flow to the desired zone. Often, it does not press well against the body. Because of this, a large percentage of hot air is simply lost in the panel and "walks" in the cracks. So, take out the flap and remove the old factory seal of yellow color. We fix all the slits model. Instead of a sponge glue "Bitoplast". It is advisable to apply it in several layers.

Lower nozzles

Next, we modernize the air ducts for the feet. When parsing the panel, you will see that there is a large gap between the nozzles. We seal it with a corrugated tube. The regular air distributor is taken out, and in its place, too, we install the corrugation. The diameter should be 4 centimeters. Thus, the air will be clearly directed to the feet, without leaks. As for blowing the windshield, it is modified in a similar way. In addition, the owners fill the excess cavities with mounting foam, in order to eliminate the creaking of the panel while driving (this problem is pursued by "Samara" from the first generation).
