Havana - a cat with a charming appearance and ideal character

Havana Browns are charming, playful, intelligent and people-oriented cats. They are affectionate, gentle and, in contrast to their Siamese brethren, extremely quiet animals. Surprisingly flexible and graceful havens adapt to any situation with self-control and confidence and do not require any special care.

History of the breed

Havana Brown is an artificial hybrid, resulting from the crossing of brown individuals with several other breeds, such as the black domestic shorthair, Russian blue and chocolate Siamese cats. This animal was the result of carefully planned selection to obtain a completely defined appearance, which is an indication that brown Siamese pussies once existed.

The breed was created by English breeders, and the usual black specimens that existed in Europe back in the late 1800s were taken as a basis. Known in Europe as a havana cat was first imported into North America in the mid-1950s. Soon after the arrival of these animals, they began to be positioned in the US as Havana Brown. This breed is recognized by the American Cat Associations CFA and AFCA, as well as by the International Association TICA.

Colour

The most important attribute of the breed is a luxurious glossy chocolate brown coat. This color was called "harbor". The cat is obliged to name its breed the same cigars, because their color is surprisingly reminiscent of the original shade of the wool of these animals.

TICA considers the standard feature of the breed as standard brown wool, ranging from the color of rich mahogany to reddish-brown, and its shade should not approach black-and-brown. However, there are pale, light-lilac, and also gray with gentle pink tones. So it can be different havana. This cat is short-haired, to the touch it is something similar to a mink.

Appearance

American breeders gave their cats really unique features. A slender and muscular body of medium size is typical of the breed. The original head shape, rich color, expressive eyes and large rounded ears made Havana Brown the brightest among other American breeds of cats.

For the first time taking a harbor on your hands, everyone is usually surprised, because this flexible and lean-looking cat actually weighs more than it seems. Its head is slightly longer than wide, it narrows to the nose and has very well developed mustache pads. The unique pointed form of the muzzle is often compared to a light bulb or corn cob.

The oval green eyes of an animal like the harbor are striking. A cat with this look makes you forget about other representatives of this species. Acceptable any shade of green color, the brighter it is, the better.

The ears of the harbor are large, round, pointed at the ends, widely spaced and inclined slightly forward. They give the cat a wary appearance. The nose is brown with a pink tone, the pads of the fingers are also light pink. Mustache must be brown. Rare hair on the chin and lower lip is a unique feature of this breed.

Character and behavior

Living on one living space with a harbor is both an honor and a pleasure. Human communication is a necessity for this breed. However, these animals also get along well with other cats, dogs and children.

Of course, individuals vary in their habits and nature. Some of them may be somewhat restrained. But in general, playful, talkative and coquettish cat havana. The photos allow you to make sure that these delicious chocolate figurines take part in any home affairs and leave the last word on all issues.

In comparison with some short-haired breeds, the harbor is considered moderately active. She does not like anything more than individual jogging around the house or "catching up" with other cats. Another of her favorite pastimes is sweet drowsiness. As a convenient place to sleep, she often chooses the knees of one of the family members.

Natural curiosity and friendliness - it is these qualities that distinguish the breed of cats of the harbor. Photos of these affectionate animals raise the mood even to the most gloomy pessimist.

Care

Havana, being cats of short-haired breed, require a minimum of care and maintenance. However, it is important that they are taught from an early age to regular haircuts and bathing. Most pussies love attention and gladly allow you to wash yourself with a soft rubber brush.

Anterior and posterior claws in animals should be trimmed, and ears and eyes - carefully cleaned with a soft cloth. Since the harbors practically do not shed, bathing on a regular basis is not necessary, except when the cat herself shows that she does not mind refreshing herself.

Unique appearance, developed intelligence and even character - these are the characteristics of the breed of cats of the harbor. The price of them (by the way, quite high, even a kitten is cheaper than for 5 thousand rubles., You do not buy) will be the minimum payment for the comfort and pleasure that these wonderful animals will give you.
