Grapes Talisman: description, care

Grapes Talisman is one of the best varieties. Consumers, he fell in love with the pleasant taste and impressive size of berries.

At the same time the variety is unpretentious, yielding and resistant to diseases. Information about the "parents" of the Talisman is contradictory. But, anyway, the variety was wonderful. The talisman is also called Kesha grapes. Kesh variety is often considered a talisman. But this is his closest relative, in many respects similar to the Talisman of grapes. The description is similar. But Kesha has flowers of both sexes, and Talisman (Kesha 1) - only women.

Grapes Talisman is a sort of early-middle maturity period (130 days).

Frost resistance

Variety of grapes Talisman easily tolerates frosts up to 25 degrees. With a stronger fall in temperature, the vine freezes without shelter.

Some wine growers successfully grow the Talisman on the arches as a nectar, placing it on protected areas. Thus the brush can weigh one and a half to two and a half kilograms. But there is a risk to remain without harvest.

The talisman loves the warmth and the sun, because it ripens badly in the cold summer.

Pollination

Grapes Talisman pollinates well. But he needs a couple of bushes of another sort as neighbors. There is practically no irrigation.

Description

The brush is large, conical, medium-dense (Keshi is denser). Its weight reaches from 1 to 2.5 kilograms (on arches). The length is about 20 centimeters. The berries are oval, white, with full maturing amber, "yellow tan", the same size (3.1 × 3.5 cm). The skin is dense. The weight of one berry is 10-12 g, but can reach 20-25 g. Each contains one or three bones.

The taste of the grapes Talisman sweet, slightly sour. When fully ripe has a muscat taste. If it lingers on the bush, it becomes more delicious. The sugar in it is from 17 to 23 percent. Acids - 6-8 grams per liter of juice. The berries are fleshy and juicy.

Formation of a bush

Talisman - grapes are very fruitful, 80-90% of its stems are fruit-bearing. Traditionally, it is advised to leave two, rarely - three brushes on the shoot.

They say that if they are formed more, then the berries will be smaller and will not ripen. But many wine growers are cut to 10-15 and even 20 kidneys and argue that in this case the variety is much more productive. And the size of berries of 12 g them quite arranges. It should be borne in mind that with such pruning the bush will require considerably more space on the trellis. Formulate even shrubs with six sleeves. But we must not allow overloading the hive by harvest. For this, weaken the weak, frozen shoots. The bush must have a good supply of old wood. If there are many sleeves, it makes sense to place them in different directions. Then on the horizontal harvest will ripen a week earlier.

With this formation of the bush it is difficult to remove branches for shelter for the winter. But it grows strong, is not afraid of drought and gives a good harvest.

Resistance to diseases

Grapes Talisman is practically not affected by mildew and gray rot. If there are no varieties with increased susceptibility to diseases nearby, then it can not be processed. But, since this happens very rarely, then "for the company" and spray it.

Transportation, storage of crops

The berries are well kept, are suitable for transportation.

Can hang on the bush to frost, without losing taste, even improving them. Fresh can be eaten up to four weeks. Well preserved in the refrigerator. On the balcony for two weeks only scallops dry out, and the berries do not deteriorate.

Reproduction

Raise the grapes Talisman, like all varieties, cuttings or layers. The bush is tall and strong, cuttings can be harvested easily. They are well rooted, the seedlings quickly begin to bear fruit. Usually with good care this happens in the third year. But you can achieve the first harvest and the second. For this, it is necessary to increase the growing season in the planting year , first planting in spring in a container or placing it in warm sawdust.

Landing

Grapes seedlings must be ready for planting.

This requires that the root system :

  • Well ripened;
  • Did not dry out during the transplant.

Indirect indicator of the preparedness of the seedling is that in autumn the leaves on it fell naturally.

The seedling is formed so that it has one escape, and that one is shortened by two or three buds. The roots are slightly pruned with a pruner and immersed in clay chatter.

Pits are better prepared from winter. They have the shape of a cube with a side of 80 cm. They need to be half filled with earth from the upper layer, with manure reparted, ashes (2 buckets each), with superphosphate (300 g per bush) added. If the pit is dug much smaller, then the bush will grow, and the yield will be miserable. Digging a hole still makes no sense, since the roots of the grapes do not penetrate below 60 cm from the surface of the earth.

Seedling is set to a depth of 30-40 cm. Sprinkle first with fertilized soil (10 cm), then remaining. Sand is added to the clay soil, so that air and water pass through it. Condense and water the earth. Near the seedling, leave a hole 5-10 cm deep.

The distance between two seedlings of the Talisman variety can be 2-3 m, if you intend to use a single-plane trellis, and 1-1.5 m if a two-plane one.

Care

You need to water until the seedling takes root. Then it is better to do this with the help of drainage. But you can grow a good harvest, not watering and not fertilizing the bush in the process of cultivation.

Regularly remove the stepchildren, so that they do not thicken the bush, they do not take away useful substances. Though at Talisman kidneys on stepsons too fruit. Sometimes they yield at the end of September (if there are no frosts).

Talisman is a grapes that loves regular root fertilizing with a lot of fertilizers. It requires phosphorus and potassium.

Variety is not very fond of pests. But the mite of the grape itch brings a lot of damage. Therefore it is necessary to spray 3-4 times with poison from ticks.

To protect against wasps, which, although not very bad, but spoil the berries, hang bottles near the bushes with syrup.
