George Skrebitsky, the story "Cat Ivanych": a brief summary, the main characters

Stories about our younger brothers are simple at first sight. Short, capacious descriptions hide the deep thought and the author's great love for every living being. So do not think that such small works are good only for younger students. Sometimes simple, but no less urgent truths are forgotten by eternally occupied adults. And who does not want to return to the cozy atmosphere of childhood with the help of good old books? The story "Cat Ivanych" is excellent for this.

about the author

Famous Russian and Soviet writer-naturalist Georgy Alexeyevich Skrebitsky was born in 1903. The discreet landscapes of the Tula forests and meadows produced a deep impression on the boy and remained forever in his memory and works. Having received a serious multi-profile education - literary and zootechnical, - Skrebitsky best combined his main life hobbies, writing his first works in the late 1930s. Already the first collections of stories "The Simpsons and Cunning" and "Stories of the Hunter" brought Georgy Alekseyevich the fame and love of big and small readers.

Subsequently, Skrebitsky actively collaborated with the magazine "Murzilka", printing short stories for the youngest. The author also contributed to the compilation of the collection "Native Speech". Scenarios for the cartoons "Forest travelers" (about bold squirrels) and "In the forest more often" (about a fun badger) are also created by this remarkable writer.

The top of Skrebitsky's work was two novels: "From the first thawed patches to the first thunderstorm" and "The wings grow in the nestlings". In both works much is told about the childhood and adolescence of the writer himself. Unfortunately, the second story remained unfinished due to the sudden death of Skrebitsky in 1964.

Features of creativity

The main theme of George Skrebitsky's works has always been nature in its constant variability and special beauty. Deep knowledge of the life of a variety of animals, as well as fascinating scientific expeditions and gambling was an excellent help for the writer.

A characteristic feature of his work is short but capacious and unusual names of stories. "River Wolf", "Chir Cirych", "Thief", "Long-nosed fishermen", "Kuika".

He often uses Skrebitsky at the beginning of his stories a leisurely, but not prolonged description of the surrounding nature, drawing the reader into the Karelian marshes or meditative forests of the middle belt. And often suddenly introduces the main character - a little animal, a fish or a bird. Yes, not simple, but with their habits and habits. And what will happen to this hero next - depends on the story. Even stories about hunting and fishing do not look bloodthirsty to Skrebitsky. They are full of cheerful excitement and fully prove that the struggle between the getter and the prey is on an equal footing.

"Cat Ivanych" is another vivid example of the humor and love with which Skrebitsky describes "the younger brother" and his peculiar life. A small funny story captivates with its sincerity both children and adults.

"Cat Ivanych": a summary

In fact, the whole story is a collection of mini sketches from the life of the most ordinary, at first glance, domestic cat. In what kind of adventure did not get the cat Ivanych! And he was smeared in the test, and caught rats in the barn (admittedly, only for his own pleasure), and even made a difficult friendship with the hedgehog.

All cases in the story are semi-anecdotal, now there are many videos with similar subjects. The passion that the cat Ivanych had for the fish quickly vanished after he was grabbed by the paw of a large cancer. The cat gets out and from crows, who encroached on its prey from the barn. And the way the cat Ivanovich settled down in the test, and at all makes you laugh heartily at his love of comfort.

Only the last episode makes the reader tense. Moving to a new apartment is not an easy time for pets, and the author is experiencing how this will be perceived by the general fluffy pet. However, for devotion to Ivanych, one should not worry: after a short review of the new house, he understands that all the relatives are close, and completely accepts a new life.

main characters

All the characters of the story were divided into two groups by Georgy Skrebitsky. Ivanych cat, Bobka puppy, hedgehog, crows and other little animals are the first and main group. Despite the realism of the story (the animals do not talk and are not like people), the reader immediately understands the character of each hero: Bobka is merry and stupid, crows are insolent, hedgehogs are wild at first, like any forest inhabitant, but then gets used to a new friend seeing , That he does not do anything wrong.

People in the story are few - the author himself, his mother and brother. Curious is the fact that they all appear only episodically on the plot, mostly acting as observers. Of course, my mother has to get Ivanitch out of the dough and wash him in the basin. Of course, she is frightened of the terrible prey that the cat brings from the barn. And yet she treats his tricks calmly and with humor, takes them for granted. And the cat Ivanovich sees her warm attitude, answering the same. It is no coincidence that his favorite place during family dinners is next to the storyteller's mother. It is there that the cat fully understands and accepts moving the family to a new home.

Georgy Skrebitsky describes warm and trustful relations between the owners and animals in his story. And yet not the people here are the main characters. "Cat Ivanych" - the product is more about animals, endowed with their own characters and characteristics.

The image of Ivanych

The author's choice for the protagonist is unsuccessful. This is not a simple nickname, as, for example, Murzik or Pushok - Georgy Skrebitsky did not just describe his story. "Cat Ivanych" ... You just listen! The importance, solidity, character are combined here with a warm, friendly attitude (otherwise the cat would be called Ivanovich).

From the first lines the reader learns one of the main features of the cat - laziness. And this laziness does not cause irritation, we immediately understand that this feeling is absolutely normal not only for cats. And when the author opposes the laziness of Ivanovich Bobkin's stupidity, the choice becomes quite obvious.

Ivanych loves simple everyday pleasures - a warm couch (even in a kadushke with a dough), a tasty fish (from the aquarium will also come down), small entertainments and praise to the owners (barn rats). Sometimes a cat has to suffer for them, but he tolerates everything steadfastly. And then we learn about one more, the most important line of Ivanych - kindness.

With a devoted dog he compares his character Skrebitsky. The cat Ivanych everywhere follows his hosts unceasingly, meets and accompanies them. And even when the author is afraid that their favorite will run away to an old apartment, he is mistaken. Again, comparing Ivanych with a dog, the writer concludes: their cat is far from the most common.

"Cat Ivanych": the main idea

The theme of many Skrebitsky's works was the interaction of people and animals, domestic or wild. And a characteristic feature of this interaction is mutual understanding. Both people and animals accept each other with all the advantages and disadvantages, get along together and become friends.

Yes, Ivanych has many features of a wild cat: greed, laziness, mischief, from time to time awakening hunting instincts. But at the same time he is a kind and affectionate domestic pet, who will never betray the family. Even Ivanych got used to the wild prickly hedgehog, sharing lunch with him. And his masters see it, appreciate his devotion and softness towards those whom he loves.

Language features

The story is read in one breath, not only because of the small volume. It is written in very simple worldly language. We seem to listen to a boy who tells interesting stories about his cat. It is curious that we do not know what color Ivanych - we only know that he is big and fat. This gives us the opportunity to compare with him almost any cat, thereby making it even more familiar to readers.

Skrebitsky tells about everyday activities of the cat in the present tense, and we seem to see Ivanovich washing himself, basking in the sun, or climbing into the aquarium for fish. And special events are described in the past tense.

Stories so smoothly flow from one to another that the reader almost does not notice it. The laziness of the cat is replaced by his adventures in the barn, but then it turns out that he does not eat rats, but loves fish. So the next episode begins. Dimensional life of a cat is perfectly reflected in a measured, endless narrative.

"Cat Ivanych": reviews and recommendations

Skrebitsky's story is included in the school program of junior classes and is actively discussed in reading lessons. Having studied the reviews, it can be concluded that an accessible language, funny adventures and a charismatic protagonist make the work one of the favorites for small readers, after reading it they willingly share similar stories from the life of their pets. As already noted, the text is easy to read, parents say that children do not even have to beg especially to finish the story. It is advisable after the analysis of the work "Cat Ivanych" to hold exhibitions of children's creativity on the theme "My pet", and also make thematic photo galleries or video clips. You can also invite children to stage separate episodes of the story.
