Functions of human skin

The functions of the skin are diverse, and they all play an important role in ensuring the vital activity of the human body. First of all, our natural cover protects the body. Skin is a kind of barrier between internal systems and the outside world. It allows you to protect the body from cuts, pressure and bruises, that is, from mechanical influences. Rescue the data given to us by the nature of the veil and from the influence of chemicals - alkalis and acids, without which our life does not do. The skin protects us from the negative influence of the environment (sun, wind, heat and cold), as well as the penetration into the body of pathogenic microorganisms and various infections, ultraviolet and infrared rays.

Mechanical protective functions of the skin are carried out due to the ability of the epidermis to restore, as well as due to the elastic structure of the dermis and the specific properties of its fiber. The top layer of our natural cover plays the main role in the performance of protective actions. Strength and elasticity of the epidermis is ensured by the presence in its composition of proteins and lipids. The dermis is used for the stability of the natural cover to tears under mechanical influences.

An important protective function of the skin is the protection of the body from the effects of radiation. In addition to sunlight, ultraviolet radiation also has an effect on humans . The horny layer of the skin is the first to stand up for protection from the negative effects of radiation. The ultraviolet rays, which are in a certain range, cause a negative reaction at the level of the epidermis. This can cause sunburn, and later oncological pathology. Ultraviolet rays that can penetrate into the deep layers of the dermis, contribute to increased sensitivity to the sun and lead to premature aging of the natural cover of our body. The response of the skin is the formation of sunburn. This produces a large amount of pigment, which absorbs rays that are in a different range. The color of the skin changes to a darker color. Thus, the body cells are protected from a high level of insolation.

The function of the skin includes participation in the gas exchange of the body. Through layers of natural cover can penetrate oxygen, ammonia, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. In this regard, the respiratory function of the skin is taken into account during cosmetic procedures. It should be borne in mind when taking baths and using it to treat healing mud.

The function of the skin is also to ensure the thermoregulation of the body. As in the winter and in the summer, thanks to it the level of the temperature regime does not change and is at the level of 36.6 degrees.

Penetration through the hair channels of fats and various chemical elements is included in the nutritional function of the skin. This feature is taken into account when developing cosmetic creams and solutions. Vegetable and animal fats, biologically active additives and vitamins included in the preparations are absorbed into the epidermis and exert their therapeutic effect therein.

The function of human skin includes the ability to self-purification. The main role in this process belongs to the sweat and sebaceous glands, through which the body releases some harmful products of metabolic processes (urea, ammonia, etc.).
