Feed for fish and its quality are of great importance in the growth, development, health and coloring of fish. Food should be diversified as much as possible and try to make it more balanced.
Dry food
They, perhaps, the most common, but are much cheaper than living, and can be stored for a very long time, but on nutritional value are much inferior. These are dried crustaceans or feeds for aquarium fish of factory production with vitamins.
Live food for aquarium fish
This is the most useful and natural food, getting that, the fish grow very quickly, but do not forget about the diversity and overfeed the pets. Live feed can be caught independently or bought in the store. Some fans even bred it at home.
The nutrition of fish can be varied with plant foods, in particular living plants. In second place in terms of value - dried plants, and then - purchased feed.
The food for fish, which is considered most useful, is the bloodworm, daphnia and gammarus.
The butterfly is a larva of an ordinary mosquito and is used for fishing instead of worms, but smaller larvae are needed to feed aquarium fish. Although this also depends on the size of your pets. The butterfly is used as a live food, it is usually not dried.
Daphnia is a small crustacean, less than 0.5 cm. It is most often used as dry food, but it is also a living universal food for fish of various sizes and breeds.
Gammarus is also referred to as crustaceans, but its size already reaches 2 cm. The crustaceus has a thick, rigid shell, so it is not digested. Therefore, a dry fish food is prepared from it, which turns out to be very nutritious.
Feeding fish
Proper nutrition provides not only the availability of proper food. Proper feeding is also important. Overfeeding of fish is one of the main causes of diseases and death of aquarium inhabitants. In addition, that obevshshaya fish easily gets inflammation of the stomach, the remaining uneaten food decomposes in water, causing an increase in the level of toxic ammonia. Basically, fish do not die of hunger, although they should not be hungry either. There is a rule that the fish needs a quantity of food the size of the eye pupil, but it is suitable mainly for small species.
An adult healthy fish calmly conducts without food, especially if there are plants in the aquarium, for several weeks. It is clear that this does not apply to fry, needing abundant and frequent feeding, so that they can grow up healthy. It is better not to feed the fish at all in the period of your absence than to ask neighbors or an outsider to control the food, as they are often overfed and the fish perish. In addition, hungry pets less pollute the water, and the aquarium remains clean during the absence of the owners.
Food for fish should be fresh, nutritious. The usual rule that should be followed is to give the inhabitants of the aquarium twice a day the amount of dry food so that it is eaten in five minutes.
