Elegant and fragile dresses from newspapers

Despite the abundance of various fabrics, many craftsmen are trying to create something out of unusual materials - plastic bags, bags, even make dresses from newspapers. Some such creations even fall periodically into museums of contemporary art, are shown at exhibitions. In principle, such a work of skill and fantasy can easily be put on, for example, on Halloween. Attention and admiration will be provided absolutely accurately.

Materials

So, how to make a dress from newspapers? First of all, we need any unnecessary newspapers, read and used, glue, a lot of Scotch tape, a stapler, salt and dress, a dummy or a living model.

Beginning of work

The first stage is preparatory. After all, making dresses from newspapers is not easy. We take pre-prepared newspapers, cut them all into stripes ten centimeters wide and each fold longitudinally four times to make the paper thicker and much stronger. Now we call our living model (we take a mannequin or we measure everything on another dress) and put two strips on her shoulders, like shoulder straps. Direct two more elements to the hollow between the breasts at an angle of degrees to forty-five, so as to get a classic neckline in the shape of the letter "V". The other end of the strings is wrapped around the shoulders or neck to form the neck of the dress. We fasten everything with a stapler or a simple glue. We take two more pieces of paper and wrap it under the hands of the model, forming the basis for the sleeves. The ends of the strips are attached to the epaulettes.

Stage two: making a solution

Dresses from newspapers need something to hold together. For this purpose we prepare a special mixture of PVA glue and plain water. In it we add two table spoons of salt, mix thoroughly.

Stage three: plastering

The base under the dress is already there. Now we take long strips, lower them into the solution and apply around the trunk so that part of the back and neck remain open. Layers of newspapers should be no more than four. All leave to dry up. We take the scissors, cut on the back (in the back of our bodice), we punched holes for lacing and leave it to dry. Choose long strips and add them vertically to the base, simply repeating the natural shapes of the living model or the selected dress. The ends of the strips must necessarily be glued or stitched, to whom it is convenient. To make the dress longer, just add more and more items.

Shape of the skirt

Dresses from newspapers can be made very different: straight, sunny, with wedges, even with the likeness of crinoline. If you want to create a skirt in a fold, you need to fold the newspaper sheets so that they turn out to be an accordion (that is, alternate in different directions). It will take about twenty sheets for this. Sewing or gluing them, attach it all to the finished corset (you can, incidentally, use scotch tape). On the underside, all the dress must be glued with scotch tape to make it stronger and not let the newspapers burst. Around the neck, hem and waist of the layers of scotch is better to make a few, so more reliable. In places of joints and ruptures, too, it is worth reinforcing the dress with the help of the same sticky tape.

The final stage

Dresses from newspapers (photos show it very clearly) seem easy, weightless, they seem to be easily broken. Actually this is not true. To strengthen the product, a layer of varnish or glue is applied on top. So the paper will not dirty the skin, can not damp and tear. However, you still need to wear this outfit with care and with help from outside. For decoration quite suitable for a variety of tinsel, sequins, stickers, bows. Wearing should be carefully, beware of water, strong wind, fire and sudden movements.
