Diamond embroidery for those who want to become an artist without needles and threads!

Did you see children's creative sets of self-adhesive mosaic ?! Such plastic 4-5-millimeter flat squares, which need to be glued on paper under a certain number, and as a result to receive a three-dimensional application. So, the progenitor of this work is diamond embroidery!

Brief description of needlework

Many women and men want to become real artists, only some realize themselves in embroidery with a cross, beads, ribbons, smooth, and others dream of finding something less laborious. So, Chinese masters have developed a new kind of needlework without needles and threads. This is a diamond mosaic. Embroidery 2 mm faceted from the front side "diamonds" is performed using tweezers.

The pattern is mass, and anyone can create a picture of any size and any subject. Sets of two types are sold: 1) huge canvases (more than two or three meters), 2) small cuts (up to 50 cm), which are then glued to the joint on the large cardboard.

The Chinese craftsmen can order any picture in this technique, even their own portrait. The advantage of this type of needlework is that diamond embroidery looks like a real photograph, displaying all shades of color. Flowers, insects, animals, birds, people, angels or landscape - all are depicted in a 3D volume. Next, the finished work is inserted into the frame under the glass or treated with varnish, special glue, so that the elements do not come unstuck with time.

Diamond embroidery: technique

Sets can be bought at any store specializing in goods for needlework, or ordered directly from Chinese designers. Read the instructions and decompose all materials. Relate the mosaic to the symbols. Then proceed to the technique of execution:

  • Decompose the canvas;
  • Tear off the adhesive base of a small piece;
  • Tweezers grab "diamond" (faceted convex side on the "face" of the work);
  • Smoothly, lightly pressing, glue to the desired symbol;
  • If necessary, tweezers;
  • Lay out a series of mosaics;
  • Take a metal ruler and align the row.

Once you have pasted all the canvas, go to the next stage. In one case, glue the pieces of ready-made embroidery on one-piece cardboard or paper; in another case, refer the work to a baguette workshop.

The technique is very simple, but requires diligence and painstakingness. The details are very small, you need to work with subtle tools (needles, tweezers, rulers) in good light. If the ranks are uneven, then the picture will lose all its attractiveness.

Diamond embroidery. Tips for Beginners:

  1. Choose a time for embroidery when no one can stop you.
  2. Free the working area to the dimensions of the canvas. With small pieces you can work on the table, large meter cloths spread on a smooth and level floor.
  3. Distribute the diamonds in the organizer in order.
  4. Work in sunlight, then do not confuse similar shades.
  5. Tear off as much adhesive backing from the canvas as you are ready to do.
  6. Diamond embroidery will be flat if the rows are glued in a horizontal or vertical direction. It is convenient for many to start work from the top, so as not to touch the mosaics with your hands.
  7. The canvas with the glued "diamond" carefully folded and put on a loose shelf, in order to avoid friction with other objects, as it can move an unattached diamond pattern.

Compared with other types of embroidery, diamond paintings perform much faster. Judge for yourself: it takes three days to create a medium-sized canvas, while it sometimes takes from two to four weeks to embroider a cross.
