Cystitis in pregnancy: how to avoid this unpleasant disease

The most common disease of the urinary system, of course, is cystitis, which is an inflammatory process of the bladder. Women suffer from this disease more often than men. But the most susceptible to this disease are women who are preparing to become mothers. For most of them, for certain reasons, cystitis develops during pregnancy. The proximity of the urine and genital organs in women explains the development of cystitis, and pregnancy gives the prerequisites for the rapid entry of infection into the bladder. It aggravates the situation and a slightly reduced immunity of the pregnant woman, when the hormonal background changes due to the development of the fetus. Cystitis during pregnancy threatens not only the health of the future mother, but also the fetus that develops in the womb of a woman.

Causes

Such a disease, as cystitis, occurs when bacteria enter the bladder, which, when multiply multiplying, lead to an inflammatory process in it.

Many bacteria could be in the body of a woman before pregnancy and not have a negative impact on it. But in pregnancy, when the female body protects the unborn child, the woman's protective forces decrease, and the bacteria begin to show increased activity, becoming dangerous enemies.

The external route of infection is not excluded. To this end, expectant mothers must be screened for STDs in order to take the necessary measures before pregnancy.

The reasons for the development of such a serious disease as cystitis in pregnancy may be insufficient, and sometimes, on the contrary, excessive hygiene, when there is a violation of the microflora of the vagina, which leads to dysbiosis, the development of candidiasis, and the risk of developing cystitis increases dramatically.

Symptoms

Cystitis in pregnancy is characterized by the following main symptoms:

  • Increased urination. With the penetration of microbes into the bladder, the female body wants to get rid of them, which is manifested in frequent urge to urinate. A woman is often forced to go to the toilet at night, and in some cases, urge to urinate occurs every quarter of an hour.
  • There may be so-called false urge to urinate, when little urine is allocated or it is not released at all.
  • There are pains, carvings in the lower abdomen, burning during urination.
  • There may be a change in the color of urine: reddish urine indicates the presence of red blood cells in it, and in inflammation - protein and pus.

Treatment

Such an unpleasant disease, like cystitis in pregnancy, which treatment is performed only by a specialist, does not tolerate "self-activity". Otherwise, you can hurt not only yourself, but also the future baby. The doctor decides how to treat cystitis in pregnancy, according to the results of a woman's examination. A modern method of treatment is the method of instillations (infusion) of medicines, including antibiotics, directly into the bladder, which excludes their harmful effect on the body of a woman and the fetus.

Prevention

In the prevention of cystitis in pregnancy, the main role is played by such measures as:

  • Adherence to hygiene rules;
  • The ability to empty the bladder in time, avoiding overflowing it;
  • Prevention of supercooling of pelvic organs and lower limbs;
  • Compliance with diet and elimination of salty, fatty and spicy food;
  • Drinking enough water.

A pregnant woman should avoid stressful situations, rest more often, avoid physical exertion.

Do not be ill. Take care of yourself!
