The total cooking time will not take more than an hour, 20 minutes of which you will spend on preparing the ingredients. By the arrival of guests you will have time to bake this simple and tasty pie. What you need:

  • About 7-8 pcs. Apples (medium size, acidic variety);
  • An incomplete pack of butter (about 120 g);
  • About 100-120 g of sugar;
  • About 2 cups (can be slightly less or more) flour;
  • Ground cinnamon and / or cloves;
  • salt;
  • As a supplement - vanilla ice cream, custard or fatty cream.

You need to start with apples. Wash fruits and cut them into halves. Remove the core and bones. Cut the apples into medium slices and place them steadily in a heat-resistant dish. The shape of the apples does not matter, they will not be visible in the finished pie. Sprinkle the fruit on top with a spoonful of cinnamon and sugar. You can use ground cloves (this is a traditional seasoning in England).

Cover the form with a foil sheet, place it in a preheated oven (temperature about 180 degrees). Set the time to 20 minutes. After half the baking time, remove the pan and stir the apples. Again, cover with foil and place back in the oven. 20-25 minutes is enough (maybe a little more if you took more fruits) to make the apples semi-soft. There is a special culinary variety of this fruit called Bramley. From it, excellent fillings are obtained for any baking. If the recipe you use softer varieties of apples, then they will take less time to cook.

While the fruit is in the oven, do not waste time and work on the sand crumbs. To cook it, put sugar into the softened (melted) butter. Fans of sugary taste can add more than indicated in the recipe. Then salt (enough pinch) and put in the specified amount of flour. Hand everything to a uniform state. It is enough 2 minutes that all the ingredients turn into a regular sand crumb.

Step 4

After the apples in the oven have reached the desired condition, remove the form and release it from the foil. Stir the fruit again. Prepared sand crumb lay on apples from above, gently level and, without covering with foil, place the heat-resistant dish back into the oven. Approximate time - 25 minutes. The temperature is slightly lower - up to 170 degrees. Crumble with apples will be ready when the crumb from the top blushes beautifully, in the edges of the form will appear syrup from the apple filling.

Remove the pie from the oven, put it to cool. Serve and eat crumbles with apples can be both warm and cold. Traditionally in England this dessert is served with custard (egg cream) or thick cream. You can serve the cake with vanilla ice cream. Bon Appetit!
