Correct transplantation of the cyclamen

Cyclamen - a perennial plant, which has a corms with a practically spherical shape.

When you are going to buy a cyclamen, pay close attention to the foliage and the tubers, there should be no signs of rotting on them. This plant is best to buy in the autumn, when flowering hardly begins, it is better if the plant has enough buds. Only in this case the correct cyclamen transplantation is possible.

If you properly take care of this plant, the cyclamen will delight you with its beautiful flowering for 20 years. Correct transplantation means that the tuber should not be deeply buried in the ground, it must be remembered that its upper part should be above the ground. The next important feature in flower care is to grow it in a small pot, so that the tuber does not rot, and the flowering is abundant.

During flowering, this plant needs access to cool air, the ideal temperature is about 15 degrees.

Cyclamen needs constant watering. Watering it will be better through the tray or by dipping for a short time. After the transplantation of the cyclamen, it must be ensured that the sprouts and tuber do not get water. It is necessary to exclude the overmoistening of the land, it can be fatal for the tuber, and hence for the flower as a whole. It is also very important to know how to transplant a cyclamen so that the plant grows well and blossoms.

The transplantation of the cyclamen is carried out after the end of the rest period, nevertheless, before the budding period begins. During this transplantation it is necessary to replace completely the earth clod, to remove the decayed and dead roots of the cyclamen. After the transplant, the cyclamen is placed in a sufficiently bright place, which is protected from direct sun rays. In the first weeks after the transplant, irrigation should be very moderate. And after two more weeks it is already allowed to start also top dressing of a plant.

The composition of the land for the Persian cyclamen: humus, leaf, sand, turf, taken in the same parts. The ideal size of the pot for this plant is 12-14 cm. If even the correct transplantation of the cyclamen is carried out in an overly small pot, the cyclamen will start to bloom too early, and the bloom will be short and weak. A large pot size is also undesirable.

For other types of cyclamen, dolomite flour or ash should be added to the pot to lower the acidity of the soil. The land for European and Neapolitan cyclamen should be sufficiently nutritious, and for the Kosachan it is rather poor.

When transplanting a Persian cyclamen, the tuber can not be buried, and the Neapolitan cyclamen must be buried indefinitely. For the other cyclamen species, there are no such clear rules, the main thing is to ensure that the cyclamen tuber does not rot.

Now you know how to transplant cyclamen correctly, but this does not guarantee you success in growing this plant.

Seeds of Persian, Neapolitan and European cyclamen should be sown late in summer, so that the air temperature is about 15-20. After 15-18 months comes the flowering period of many Persian cyclamen species.

In the flowering and vegetation period, the cyclamen needs regular watering, it is better to carry through the pan. If watering the cyclamen is done from above, it is required to ensure that moisture does not get on the tuber, for which water is poured at the edge of the pot.

Cyclamen prefers humid air, so the air around the cyclamen can be moistened with an atomizer, but watch for water not to fall directly onto the plant. You can also put a pot of plant on a tray on which there is a wet pebble.

After the flowering cyclamen is over, the flowers must be cut to the tuber, reducing watering and stopping the fertilizing of the flower. If there are yellowed leaves, then they must be unscrewed together with the petioles, but not cut off. The remaining leaves in the spring dry, and the plant will go into a state of rest, at this time, watering is required to stop. The pot must be placed on its side and put in a cool place. The flower should not be watered until the middle of summer.
