Combiner plumbing: comfortable wiring

There are several schemes for laying pipelines: either sequentially connecting plumbing fixtures using tees, or in parallel, by means of a comb.

The installation of pipes through the comb is convenient in that plumbing devices are connected independently of each other. This is not only a very reliable connection, it also makes it possible to disconnect a separate branch in the event of an accident without disturbing the operation of the entire system in order to replace or repair a separate device. A plumber combines the life of the owners of an apartment or house, and also creates convenient conditions for performing repair work for specialists.

Advantages of parallel connection

In Soviet times, wiring in heat and water supply systems was most often used single-pipe with a tee connection. This was less material-intensive and cheaper solution. But the disadvantages inherent in such a wiring do not meet modern requirements for comfort and maintenance.

Now more and more often collector wiring is used that allows you to connect not only standard sanitary equipment, but also swimming pools and warm floors, as the sanitary plumbing ensures uniform distribution of water to each "consumer" and adjustment of the hydraulic process in the system.

The combs are made for 2, 3 and 4 exits. In the case of the need to connect more devices, several collectors are selected, which together will give the required number of outputs, and are connected in series. This connection is very convenient, when it becomes necessary to carry out repairs in the bathroom or in the kitchen. A control valve or a tap can shut off the flow of water into the desired tap and easily replace the instrument.

Mounting the comb

According to the rules, the plumbing plumbing is mounted independently on hot and cold water (here, for convenience, the collectors of red and blue color are mounted in the difference, respectively). Cold pipes are put on pipes after filters and pressure reducers, which neutralize the sudden pressure jumps in the riser. With the help of special clamps, the combs can be fastened directly to the wall, and can be mounted in a box. There is the possibility of connecting heat meters to heating appliances.

For the convenience of regulation, a sanitary fittings comb with cranes is installed. Most often, the collectors are made of cast iron or bronze, stainless steel, more rarely - of titanium.

Pros and cons of comb installation

Pros :

  1. Absence of changes in temperature and pressure with the simultaneous inclusion of several consumers.
  2. Serviceability: Each device is disconnected separately, without interrupting the entire system for repair, maintenance or replacement.

Cons :

  1. Relative cost in comparison with a single-pipe connection scheme. For good combs, the plumbing distribution prices fluctuate between $ 120 and $ 150, and they are sometimes required a few, plus an additional number of fittings and pipes.
  2. The collector itself takes up a lot of space if there are more than four connected devices.
