"Cliff" machine gun: design and scope
The "Utes" machine gun was replaced at the combat post of the DKKM. It was adopted in the mid-70's. This is one of the most powerful types of large-caliber small arms. The "Utes" machine gun is distinguished by its relatively small weight and dimensions, convenience of use, and maneuverability. The design of the machine and the weapons themselves allow for accurate and accurate shooting. It is intended for destruction of group living targets, lightly armored transport, low altitude aircraft and firing points.
Machine gun "Cliff" for better smooth operation was equipped with a shutter frame with guide rollers. The return spring is placed in its channel. In the rear part, the impact mechanism has a buffer spring, which softens the impact of the shutter frame upon reverse movement.
The "Cliff" machine gun can only work in automatic fire mode. Trigger is located in the back of the trunk box in a separate housing. When shot, the earring, which connects the bolt to the frame, acts on the drummer, which punches the capsule. The recharge handle is on the right. When firing, it is still.
The supply of ammunition is carried out from the metal tape by means of a feeding mechanism. Its design allows for feeding from the left and right. The "Utes" machine gun is equipped with an optical sight with a sixfold increase, which is fixed in the back of the receiver.
For shooting, the following types of ammunition are used: B-32 (armor-piercing-incendiary), MDZ (incendiary of instant action), BZT-44 (incendiary tracer). This large-caliber weapon became the basis for the development of the turret-turret ship "Utes-M" and the tank machine gun NSVT.
In 1976, two types of weapons were adopted for arming at the embrasure. Devices were developed under the leadership of L.V. Stepanova. Each of them consists of a spring-type small-size driller with a sliding check for fastening and an infantry machine. The unit is equipped with armored protection. Its design allows, instead of specially developing labor-intensive stationary devices, to use standard machines. The "Cliff" machine gun is easily detached from them and can be used outside the structure.
