Chronic pancreatitis: exacerbation. What to do?
Chronic pancreatitis in the stage of exacerbation is, as a rule, the consequences of not cured acute pancreatitis in time . It must be said that the gradation from the stage of acute relapse to chronicle is rather arbitrary.
Exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis: symptoms
Usually exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis is accompanied not by such severe pain as an acute form of the disease - they manifest paroxysmally. The appearance of pain can trigger alcohol abuse or a violation of the prescribed diet. There may be indigestion in the form of diarrhea, alternating with constipation, nausea, heaviness in the epigastric region. Surgical intervention does not require exacerbation, however, certainly needs treatment. The pancreas produces most of the enzymes necessary for digesting food, and a prolonged dysregulation of the gland leads to a serious digestive disorder.
A special role in the prevention of exacerbation is the ordering of the patient's life: work should alternate with a full rest. Stresses, disturbances and experiences should be minimized - they only contribute to the occurrence of problems in the work of the digestive system. The patient needs rest on the nature, full rest during the working process, periodic sanatorium treatment. The latter is especially indicated for those suffering from mild to moderate chronic forms when they are in complete or incomplete remission. Heavy form is contraindicated for the sanatorium treatment of such a disease as chronic pancreatitis. The aggravation in the conditions of the resort is also not treated. It is important to have a timely examination from a gastroenterologist - at least four times a year.
Chronic pancreatitis: exacerbation requires special nutrition
During this period, the diet should be sparing both mechanically and chemically. The first two days require complete rest. You can use mineral water without a gas such as "Borjomi" or "Slavyanovskaya". It is good to drink a weak and unsweetened broth of a dogrose. If by the third day the state of health improves, you can take food: mucous soups, mashed liquid porridge, vegetable puree, jelly (fruit and milk). No solid food - only liquid and semi-liquid, cooked or steamed, mashed. After a week or two you can switch to solid food.
Chronic pancreatitis: exacerbation and treatment
When the disease worsens, hospitalization is strongly recommended. In addition to the diet, which was discussed above, as a rule, medication is prescribed, aimed at eliminating pain. After cessation of pain, the doctor, if necessary, prescribes drugs to suppress gastric secretion, sometimes an antibiotic of general action. It is important to remember that exacerbations can be avoided if you follow a diet and completely eliminate the use of alcoholic beverages.
