Bryusov lane in Moscow: history and modernity. Attractions of Bryusov Lane

Bryusov lane, which connects Tverskaya and Bolshaya Nikitskaya streets, is not very long. But in the cultural and historical dimension, it is very remarkable and deserves special attention. This is a very typical place for old Moscow. There are fewer such people every year.

From Moscow history

By his historical name Bryusov lane is due to the famous figure of the Petrine era, General-Field Marshal Ya. V. Bruce. It was in this place in the thirties of the eighteenth century that the descendants and heirs of the closest associate of Peter the Great founded the estate . During their stay, which lasted almost a hundred years, the alley became known as Bryusov. And earlier it was listed as Resurrection, by the name of the Resurrection Church on the Assumption Vrazhka located here. From 1962 to 1994, Bryusov's lane was named after People's Artist of the USSR Nezhdanova, who used to live here at number 7. But in the nineties, the tendency of returning lost historical toponyms was gaining strength in Russia. And the alley in the center of the capital again became Bryusov. One should only regret that not all Moscow streets returned to their original names.

Architectural features

It is difficult to single out any one dominant architectural style that formed Bryusov Lane. Moscow in general is distinguished by considerable eclecticism. It is easy to find the most varied, sometimes contradictory trends. Stylistic unity can not be traced in the very center of the capital, where Bryusov Lane is located. Its modern appearance has been formed, mainly in the first half of the twentieth and in the last decades of the preceding century. To the visual image of the alley, many outstanding masters of the time, in particular the famous Soviet academician of architecture A. V. Shchusev, put their hand. It remains to be regretted that at the same time the old heritage of Moscow architecture was largely lost. But at the same time, some monuments of ancient Russian architecture were preserved with minor changes.

sights

The oldest building, which has Bryusov pereulok, is the Church of the Resurrection of the Speaker, it stands here from the first half of the seventeenth century. This church had a predecessor, a wooden church built in 1548. There are no other equally bright architectural sights in Bryusov Lane. Nevertheless, they can be attributed to the type of residential development adjacent to the alley quarters. Many experts recognize such, at first glance, unremarkable, residential buildings as valuable landforming objects. They are very typical for historical Moscow. Also to the unconditional sights of the area of Bryusov lane is the artist's house and the composer's house located here. No less beloved by the creative intelligentsia of Moscow and the Conservatory, whose building is nearby.

Residents of Briusov Lane

It so happened that by coincidence of different circumstances this place in Moscow was one of the habitats of various artistic and artistic bohemians. A similar trend was already outlined in the second half of the nineteenth century, and the culmination reached in the post-revolutionary era and in the Soviet era. The walls of many houses in Bryusov Lane are decorated with memorial plaques informing passers-by about the famous inhabitants of these walls. It is quite justified the assumption that here and today there live those in honor of whom on the walls someday there will be memorable signs. All the inhabitants of Bryusov Lane are difficult to enumerate, but let's try to remember some. In different years, there lived such artists and musicians: I. S. Kozlovsky, N. S. Golovanov, N. A. Obukhova, M. P. Maksakova, I. M. Moskvin, V. I. Kachalov, V. E. Meyerhold, A. Sh. Melik-Pashayev, L. M. Leonidov.

From the point of view of a realtor

The area of Bryusov Lane was very prestigious and respected throughout the Soviet historical period. The highest party and economic nomenclature lived here. Currently, this is one of the most statusful districts of the capital. Most of the housing in Bryusov Lane, by all criteria, belongs to the elite category. In many residential complexes apartments are rebuilt and re-planned in accordance with the individual requirements of the owners. On some buildings there were additional attic floors and superstructures. According to the price parameters, the housing here is quoted at the highest mark of the value range. Nevertheless, it is in a strong demand. Many Muscovites would like to move to a permanent residence in Bryusov Lane. Sufficient people in the capital are more than enough.

Bryusov lane, the Church of the Resurrection of the Gloating

This is one of the oldest Moscow Orthodox cathedrals. The Church of the Resurrection of the Speaker at the Assumption Vrachka (such is his full canonical name) did not cease his service for several centuries. It began in the seventeenth century and was not interrupted even in the years of severe persecution of the church. The church in the heart of Moscow continued to receive parishioners even in the thirties of the twentieth century in the midst of state atheist propaganda. As it is customary to say among Orthodox believers, this is a namolennoe place. The architectural solution of the Temple is marked by modest modesty. But it has an expressive two-tiered bell tower, which can be seen even from Tverskaya Street. One of the most important Orthodox shrines of the Temple is the miraculous icon of St. Spyridon. It can be seen in the altar part of the cathedral, to the right of the image of the Savior Not Made by Hands. Thanks to this unique icon, the Church of the Resurrection of the Speaker in Bryusov Lane is sometimes referred to as the Temple of Spiridon of Trimifuntsky. This saint is traditionally considered an assistant and intercessor of all the poor and disadvantaged. It is customary for him to apply for spiritual support in the difficult moment of life. And there is nothing surprising in the fact that the miracle-working icon of St. Spiridon's people's path has not been overgrown for several centuries.
